The reader: "And this is what is known by mass transmission and necessity from the religion of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), for he commanded the maintenance of mosques and prayer in them, and he did not command the construction of a shrine, neither over the grave of a prophet, nor over the grave of anyone other than a prophet, nor over the station of a prophet. And in the time of the Companions, the Successors, and those who followed them, in the lands of Islam—whether al-Hijaz, al-Sham, Yemen, Iraq, Khurasan, Egypt, or the Maghrib—there was no mosque built over a grave, nor any shrine intended for visitation at all. And none of the Salaf would come to the grave of a prophet or anyone other than a prophet for the sake of making supplication at it. Nor did the Companions intend to make supplication at the grave of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), nor at the grave of any other prophet. Rather, they would pray and send peace upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his two companions.
