As for the Sunnah, listen to the hadith of Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : As for the Sunnah, listen to the hadith of Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him): He said:
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) cursed the accepter of interest and its payer, and one who records it, and the two witnesses, and he said: They are all equal. لعن رسولُ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم آكل الربا وموكله وكاتبه وشاهديه ، وقال : هم سواء
Sahih Muslim 1598
.
Five are cursed, refuge with Allah, regarding riba:
The one who eats it آكله
: He started with him because he is the one who benefits from the riba, so he started with him, and he is the most severe of them, refuge with Allah, because he eats the riba, and eating riba is eating forbidden wealth, illicit gain, and his body is nourished by illicit gain, so if he supplicates, he is not deserving of a response, even if he does the causes of response, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned:
a person who travels widely, his hair disheveled and covered with dust. He lifts his hand towards the sky (and thus makes the supplication): "O Lord, O Lord," whereas his diet is unlawful, his drink is unlawful, and his clothes are unlawful and his nourishment is unlawful. How can then his supplication be accepted? الرجل يطيل السفر أشعث أغبر يمد يديه إلى السماء : يا رب يا رب ، وملبسه حرام ومطعمه حرام وغذي بالحرام ، فأنّى يستجاب لذلك
Sahih Muslim 1015
.
And the one who eats riba وآكل الربا
does not mean only the one who ate it, but the one who took it, whether he ate it, wore it, drank it, lived in it, or otherwise, and eating was mentioned because it is the most specific of the ways of benefiting, because the body is nourished by it, so clothing protects from heat and cold, but it is not like the benefit of eating, because the benefit of eating is more direct in the body, yes.
And as for the saying of some: "the most general of the ways of benefiting," it is because the common case is that a person benefits from his wealth by eating more than he benefits from his wealth by drinking or wearing or the like, but it appears that he specified eating because it is the most specific of benefiting from the riba, yes.
But is the meaning specifically eating? The answer: No, but the meaning is taking it for eating or otherwise, and for this Allah the Exalted said regarding the Jews:
And [for] their taking of usury while they had been forbidden from it, and their consuming of the people's wealth unjustly وأخذهم الربوا وقد نهوا عنه وأكلهم أموال الناس بالباطل
[An-Nisa 4:161]
.
Second:
The one who gives it موكله
: The one who gives it is the one who gives the riba, and he deserved the curse for his assistance in an act that brings the curse, and the one who assists in a forbidden act is like the one who does the forbidden act, just as the one who assists in good is like the one who does the good.
The scribe كاتبه
: The scribe is also cursed, refuge with Allah, because he assisted in establishing it by his writing, and because he did not write it except that he was pleased with it, so he became a partner to the doer, and it is said likewise regarding
The two witnesses شاهديه
: the two who testify to it, for they are included in the curse, because their testimony to it establishes it, and because their testimony to it indicates their pleasure with it, and the one who is pleased with a forbidden act is like the one who does the forbidden act.
And on this basis, there are five who are cursed in riba: the eater, the giver, the witness, the two scribes, the witness and the two scribes!
The student: The scribe and the two witnesses!

The Shaykh : Subhan Allah!!! The scribe and the two witnesses, what do we say: the witness and the two scribes?
The student: Yes.

The Shaykh : Yes, that is correct, because the scribe is one and the two witnesses are two, so these five are cursed in it, and you know the reason for the curse in those other than the eater, because the curse of eating is clear, but the curse of the others is for the sake of causality, yes.
