Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Sulayman ibn Harb narrated to us, saying: Shu'bah narrated to us from Qatadah from Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that he said:
Whoever possesses the following three qualities will taste the sweetness of faith: 1. The one to whom Allah and His Apostle become dearer than anything else. 2. Who loves a person and he loves him only for Allah's sake. 3. Who hates to revert to disbelief (Atheism) after Allah has brought (saved) him out from it, as he hates to be thrown in fire.
Sahih al-Bukhari 21
.

The Shaykh : Yes, these are from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). These three qualities are for a person to fulfill. A person should love that Allah and His Messenger are dearer to him than all else. Does this include himself?
Yes, all else includes himself. And the second is:
Who loves a person and he loves him only for Allah's sake
Sahih al-Bukhari 16
. This is because the causes of love are many, including kinship, marriage, gifts, and others. The causes of that are many. But if you do not love this person except for the sake of Allah, then by this you will find the sweetness of faith. This does not contradict that his love for another reason may coexist with it, such as his love for his kindness to him, or his love for his kinship with you, or his love for the good he does for the community, and the like of that.
And the third is:
whoever hates to return to disbelief after Allah has saved him from it
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2624Sahih (Darussalam)
, after Allah has saved him
as much as he would hate to be thrown into the fire
Sunan an-Nasa'i 4989Sahih (Darussalam)
. This means he hates disbelief, and he hates to return to it, just as he hates to be thrown into the Fire. Yes.

The questioner : The hadith before that, we did not read it, O Shaykh, ...

The Shaykh : No, we read it.

The questioner : ... due to the saying of Allah the Exalted:
but He imposes blame upon you for what your hearts have earned
[Al-Baqarah 2:225]
.

The Shaykh : In any case, there is no problem. Review the tape.

The questioner : I made a note on his saying ...

The Shaykh : Yes.
