The Shaykh : The decision belongs to Allah and His Messenger. These people were three hundred and a few men, and they are the people of Badr. Allah looked upon them and rewarded them with a reward that was not granted to anyone else. He looked upon them and said: Sunan Abi Dawud 2650Sahih (Al-Albani) This great good deed has wiped out all the evil deeds they do, and this expedition benefited those who participated in it, even Hatib (may Allah be pleased with him), who wrote news about the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to Quraysh before the Battle of the Conquest. When what he had done was discovered, 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him): "Let me strike off his neck, for he has become a hypocrite". 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was a brave man who knew nothing but the sword. He said: Sahih al-Bukhari 3983 This great evil deed fell within the scope of what is forgiven for the people of Badr. For this reason, the people of Badr are superior to the people of the Pledge of Aqabah, superior because of the great support they provided to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). For this reason, the Day of Badr is called the Day of Distinction.
