In this verse, Allah the Exalted said: “A Book whose verses have been detailed,” and in the other verse

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The student: May Allah reward you. Here Allah the Exalted said:
A Book whose verses have been detailed كتاب فُصِّلت آياته
[Fussilat 41:3]
In another verse
Allah has sent down the best statement: a consistent Book wherein is reiteration الله نزَّل أحسن الحديث كتابًا متشابهًا مثاني
[Az-Zumar 39:23]
How do you reconcile these verses?

The Shaykh : There is no contradiction, because His saying:
In pairs مثاني
means
explained فصلت
, since its meaning is that the meanings are repeated therein, mentioning good then evil, the people of good and the people of evil, Paradise and the Fire, and the like.
The student: This is what is meant by...

The Shaykh : This is what is meant by His saying:
In pairs مثاني
. As for the meaning of His saying
Similar متشابها
, it means that it resembles itself in perfection, beauty, and quality. Did you understand? I thought you would ask: How do you reconcile Allah’s praise of the Qur’an as being similar with His saying:
in it are verses [that are] precise - they are the foundation of the Book - and others unspecific. As for those in whose hearts is deviation [from truth], they will follow that of it which is unspecific منه آيات محكمات هن أم الكتاب وأخر متشابهات فأما الذين في قلوبهم زيغ فيتبعون ما تشابه منه
[Ali 'Imran 3:7]
The reconciliation is that it is similar in beauty, resembling itself. As for the clear verses and the ambiguous ones, the clear ones are those whose meaning is clarified, and the ambiguous ones are those whose meaning is hidden. Is the time up?
