The benefits of the saying of the Exalted: ((A bringer of good news and a warner, but most of them turned away, so they do not hear. And they said, "Our hearts are in coverings from that to which you invite us, and in our ears is deafness, and between us and you is a barrier, so work, for indeed, we are working."))

And among the benefits of these noble verses is that the Qur'an contains good news and warning, being a bringer of good news and a warner. But is this distributed, or can it be both a bringer of good news and a warner at the same time? Both are possible. As for the first, that it is a bringer of good news and a warner, we find among its verses what is good news for the believers, and we find among its verses what is a warning. As for the second, that a single verse may benefit some people and harm others, read
(124) And whenever a surah is revealed, there are among the hypocrites those who say, "Which of you has this increased faith?" As for those who believed, it has increased them in faith, while they are rejoicing. (125) But as for those in whose hearts is disease, it has [only] increased them in evil [in addition] to their evil. And they will have died while they are disbelievers.
[At-Tawbah 9:124-125]
and do not be surprised that one thing may be harmful from one aspect and beneficial from another: the Qur'an is beneficial for the believers and harmful for the disbelievers, and do not be surprised by this. I give you a tangible example: dates are sweet in taste, a fruit, food, sustenance; one person eats them and is harmed by them, while another eats them and grows with them, even though it is the same thing. So it is with the Qur'an.
And among the benefits of these noble verses is that despite the Qur'an being described with this noble description—the detailing of the verses, that it is in the Arabic language, and that it is a bringer of good news and a warner—it did not escape opposition and turning away, as He said:
So most of them turned away فأعرض أكثرهم
.
And among the benefits of the verses is the permissibility of denying hearing for one who does not benefit from it, as He said:
so they do not hear. فهم لا يسمعون
[Al-A'raf 7:100]
, and the same is said regarding the remaining senses for one who does not benefit from them; we say that their existence is like non-existence. So if one does not benefit from what he sees, we say: this person does not see, even if he has two eyes.
And among the benefits of the noble verse is the intensity of the disbelievers' hatred for what was revealed of the truth. The evidence?
The student: ....

The Shaykh :
so work; indeed, we are working." فاعمل إننا عاملون
[Fussilat 41:5]
Okay, is it correct? Do you have the book with you?
The student: No.

The Shaykh : Why?
The student: I did not take it.

The Shaykh : Why did you not take it?
The student: I walked late and submitted a paper... Shaykh Abd al-Rahman.

The Shaykh : He is in Najran today... Okay.
Okay, so among its benefits is the intensity of the disbelievers' opposition and their confrontation of these descriptions mentioned by the brother.
And among the benefits of these noble verses is the challenge of these falsifiers to their falsehood, and branching from this is that among the people of falsehood, there are those who challenge the people of truth to this day? To this day. But the people of truth must seek help from Allah (Mighty and Majestic) in resisting these people, and they must know that a word of truth overcomes a thousand words of falsehood. But the sword is with its wielder; perhaps the sword is in the hand of a coward, so when he sees the enemy approaching, the sword falls from his hand. Does he benefit from the sword? No. It is in the hand of a brave man; if his sword were chipped, he would strike the heads of the enemies with it. So the reality is that the sword is with its wielder. How many people carry many things from the Shari'ah but do not benefit from them and do not benefit others? And how many people are far less than that, but Allah benefited through them because they are a mujahid who fights the people of falsehood with the truth he has.
