Commentary on Tafsir al-Jalalayn: ((Or)) rather ((they say: He has fabricated a lie against Allah)) by attributing the Qur'an to Allah the Exalted ((If He wills, He will seal))

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan. Allah Blessed and Exalted is He said:
Or do they say, "He has invented about Allah a lie"?
[Ash-Shuraa 42:24]
Here, the commentator said: "Rather" meaning that "am" means "rather." They call it disconnected (munqati'ah) because "am" can be connected or disconnected. When it means "rather," it is disconnected because it resembles a break from what came before. When it means "or," it is connected, like if I say: Do you want a book or a watch? This is connected because it means "or," and neither party can do without the other. And if I say:
Or do they say: He fabricated it
you do not find a counterpart in it, so it is disconnected meaning "rather."
they say يقولون
namely the disbelievers from the polytheists of Quraysh and others:
He has fabricated a lie against Allah
meaning he fabricated a lie against Allah, and that is by saying: The Qur'an is the speech of Allah, so they said: The Qur'an is not the speech of Allah, and Muhammad is a liar, but he is a sorcerer, a diviner, a madman, and the like of the words they throw at the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Allah the Exalted said:
But if Allah willed, He could seal over your heart. And Allah eliminates falsehood and establishes the truth
[Ash-Shuraa 42:24]
But if Allah willed, He could seal over your heart
[Ash-Shuraa 42:24]
The object of "wills" is omitted, and it is estimated by what the context indicates, meaning: If Allah wills that you fabricate a lie against Him, and this is impossible.
He will seal upon your heart
The author said: "binds" and the correct is that "sealing" here means "stamping," meaning: If you fabricated a lie against Allah, Allah stamped upon your heart,
And Allah will erase the falsehood
what you fabricated, if you had fabricated it,
establishes the truth by His words
[Ash-Shuraa 42:24]
He confirms it: meaning He establishes it with His words revealed to His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family).
Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts.
[Al-Anfal 8:43]
The general meaning of the verse is that if you had fabricated a lie against Allah, Allah would not leave you; He must clarify the truth, so He seals upon your heart, stamps upon it, then Allah erases the falsehood and establishes the truth with His words. Indeed, He is All-Knowing of what is in the breasts.
This resembles the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And We did not send before you any messenger or prophet except that when he spoke [or recited], Satan threw into it
[Al-Hajj 22:52]
meaning when he recites, Shaytan casts into his recitation:
But Allah abolishes that which Satan throws in; then Allah makes precise His verses. And Allah is Knowing and Wise.
[Al-Hajj 22:52]
. [Al-Hajj: 52]
And His saying:
If He wills
Does this condition necessitate the occurrence? No, the condition sometimes comes in the greatest of impossibilities. Have you seen the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Say, [O Muhammad], "If the Most Merciful had a son, then I would be the first of [his] worshippers."
[Az-Zukhruf 43:81]
, and is it possible for Allah to have a child? It is not possible, and yet the conditional came. And Allah the Exalted said:
And it was already revealed to you and to those before you that if you should associate [anything] with Allah, your work would surely become worthless
[Az-Zumar: 65] Does this necessitate the permissibility of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) associating partners with Allah? It does not necessitate it. And Allah the Exalted said:
So if you are in doubt, [O Muhammad], about that which We have revealed to you, then ask those who have been reading the Scripture before you. The truth has certainly come to you from your Lord, so never be among the doubters.
[Yunus: 94] Is it possible for him to be in doubt? No. Therefore:
[Ash-Shuraa 42:24]
meaning: If Allah wills that you fabricate a lie against Him, this condition does not necessitate the permissibility of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) fabricating a lie against Allah. And it is known that Allah has testified for His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with the message, saying:
But Allah bears witness to that which He has revealed to you. He has sent it down with His knowledge, and the angels bear witness
[An-Nisa 4:166]
, He said:
and establishes the truth by His words. Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts.
[Ash-Shuraa 42:24]
meaning: with the owners of the breasts, and what are the owners of the breasts? They are the hearts, as Allah the Exalted said:
For indeed, it is not eyes that are blinded, but blinded are the hearts which are within the breasts.
[Al-Hajj 22:46]
