Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa number ( 17670 )
Q2: What is the meaning of the saying of Allah the Exalted:
It is Allah who has created seven heavens and of the earth, the like of themاللَّهُ الَّذِي خَلَقَ سَبْعَ سَمَاوَاتٍ وَمِنَ الأَرْضِ مِثْلَهُنَّ
[At-Talaq 65:12]
,
and does this mean that there are seven earths, or is it the earth we live on with its layers?

A2: Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) informs that He created seven heavens and seven earths, as in His saying:
It is Allah who has created seven heavens and of the earth, the like of themاللَّهُ الَّذِي خَلَقَ سَبْعَ سَمَاوَاتٍ وَمِنَ الأَرْضِ مِثْلَهُنَّ
[At-Talaq 65:12]
And in (the two Sahihs) it is narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
He who usurps even a span of land would be made to wear around his neck seven earths.من ظلم قيد شبر من الأرض طوقه من سبع أرضين
Sahih Muslim 1612a
, and this is evidence of the perfection of the power of Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He). And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions.
