In his hand was a ring of brass, so he said: What is this? He said: It is from the weak (illness).

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader:
In his hand was a ring of brass, so he said: What is this? He said: It is from the weak (illness). He said: Remove it, for it does not increase you except in weakness, and if you were to die while it is on you, you would never succeed.
. Narrated by Ahmad with a sound chain. And from him, from 'Uqbah ibn 'Amir, traced to the Prophet:
Whoever hangs up an amulet, Allah will not complete for him, and whoever hangs up a charm, Allah will not protect him.
And in a narration:
Whoever hangs up an amulet has committed shirk.
. And from Ibn Abi Hatim, from Hudhayfah:
That he saw a man with a thread of fever in his hand, so he cut it and recited His statement

The Shaykh : His statement
And he recited His statement: And most of them do not believe in Allah except while they are associating partners with Him..

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
The author said: "Chapter on what is shirk: wearing rings" What is meant by shirk here, O Ibrahim?
The student: Shirk ... except if, there is a detail

The Shaykh : I think you ...
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Fine ... yes.
The student: It may be major shirk

The Shaykh : Very well.
The student: So if he believes that ... it is major shirk, and if he believes that it is a cause for the effect to occur, it is minor shirk.

The Shaykh : It is minor shirk. Fine, what is the reason the first one is major shirk, Muhammad?
The student: Because he believes that it has an effect, whether it was.

The Shaykh : After, I think you were not present.
The student: The question

The Shaykh : The question is: What is the reason it is major shirk if he believes that it acts by itself?
The student: Because he made it a partner with Allah.

The Shaykh : Yes, in
The student: In lordship

The Shaykh : In creation, is that right? And it is from shirk in lordship. Fine, 'Abd al-Rahman, why is it minor shirk if he believes that it is a cause and Allah the Exalted is the one who causes?
The student: Because he made it ... .

The Shaykh : Yes, and this is a type of shirk, as if he partnered Allah the Exalted in making these things a cause when they are not a cause. Yes, but he does not believe that it is independent. If he believes that, it is major shirk, because shirk with Allah, is it not the greatest?
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : ... what do you say, because he believed it was a cause, he did not believe it was an actor by itself, he believed it was only a cause, so he sees that the one who causes is Allah the Mighty and Majestic.
The student: But when he partnered Allah in making this, why is it not major because he partnered?

The Shaykh : No, he does not believe, he says this is a cause, but he does not believe that it is the actor, he believes that Allah is the one who causes, so the cause is not an actor by itself.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : Fine, there is no problem now. Fine, his belief that this is a cause and it is not a cause, does this contradict tawhid? The most we can say is that you affirmed causality for this cause, and Allah the Blessed and Exalted is the one who creates causality in it, not you. So this belief is false.
The student: ... made it that he partnered

The Shaykh : No, no.
The student: He partnered him in legislation.

The Shaykh : He did not partner him in legislation, even the one who partners in legislation, whereas legislation is a ruling, this is not a ruling, this is not a ruling, this is the phrase making this thing a cause, and the actor is who? It relates to lordship, and the actor is who? It is Allah. So this belief is not correct, it is minor shirk because he believed that what is not a cause is a cause. Fine, and his statement: "for lifting the calamity or repelling it" What is the difference between them, O Sultan?
The student: Lifting the calamity is after it occurs, and repelling it is before it occurs.

The Shaykh : Yes, repelling is before occurrence, and lifting is after it.
