Explanation of the author's statement: Among them is the verse in Surah al-Bara'ah, in which it is explained that the People of the Book took their rabbis and monks as lords besides Allah
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :"Secondly, among them is the verse in al-Bara'ah"
The student: Because of His saying:
The Shaykh : "in which it is explained that the People of the Book took their rabbis and monks as lords besides Allah" This is shirk (associating partners with Allah), but what type is it? Shirk of worship or shirk of obedience?
The student: Shirk of obedience
The Shaykh : Shirk of obedience. So it is closer to tawhid al-rububiyyah (oneness of lordship) than tawhid al-uluhiyyah (oneness of worship), because the ruling, whether legal or natural, belongs to whom? To Allah.[Ash-Shuraa 42:10] Likewise, Allah the Exalted says: [Al-Qasas 28:70] So the ruling, both naturally and legally, belongs to Allah (Mighty and Majestic).
The student: ...
The Shaykh : Yes
The student: ...
The Shaykh : Because they did not worship Him
The student: Meaning they associated ... in obedience
The Shaykh : Yes, but is obedience in the form of submission not worship?
The student: ... In the hadith, he said:
The Shaykh : Yes, their worship, but it is not the worship that is submission. He said "their worship" meaning their submission to them in commands and following them.
The student: ...
The Shaykh : Except, from shirk, yes
The student: From shirk
The Shaykh : Yes, it is major shirk, with details, because a chapter will come to us, if Allah wills, about obeying rulers and scholars in making lawful what Allah has forbidden, or the opposite. There are details in it, and it explains that "and that they were not commanded to worship anything but one God, even though its interpretation, which is free from doubt, is obedience to scholars and worshippers in sin"
The student: ...
The Shaykh : Ah?
The student: Then also
The Shaykh : ...
The student: And that
The Shaykh : Wait, wait, let it be "obedience to scholars and worshippers in sin" by their claim "not their calling them" their obedience in sin
The student: ...
The Shaykh : Cross out "other than," cross out "other than," their obedience in sin, meaning they obey them in disobeying Allah. So the Shaykh (may Allah have mercy on him) classified that as major shirk, but there are details, as will come, if Allah wills, that obeying rulers in forbidding the forbidden, or the opposite, has details. And among them is also "the statement of Khalil (peace and blessings be upon him) to the disbelievers:[Az-Zukhruf 43:26-27] So he excluded his Lord from among the worshipped"
The student: ...
The Shaykh : Ah?
The student: His saying, O Shaykh Muhammad ... like the one who followed a scholar in sin, he did not make it lawful, he did not make the lawful forbidden, and did not ...
The Shaykh : We said ... and among them is the statement of Khalil (peace and blessings be upon him) to the disbelievers:[Az-Zukhruf 43:26-27] The meaning of "bara'ah" (disavowal) was explained to us earlier, and his saying: [Az-Zukhruf 43:26-27] He excluded his Lord from among the worshipped. This indicates that tawhid (the oneness of Allah) must include negation and affirmation: disavowal of all other than Allah and the sincerity of worship for Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He).
And the Exalted mentioned that this disavowal and this loyalty are the interpretation of the testimony that there is no god but Allah. He said:[Az-Zukhruf 43:28] His saying that this disavowal and this loyalty, how can there be disavowal and loyalty?
The student: Disavowal of all other than Allah and loyalty to Allah
The Shaykh : Yes, loyalty to Allah and disavowal of all other than Allah.[Az-Zukhruf 43:26-27] So I am His close friend and I am not disavowed of Him. Allah made it a reminder of the testimony that there is no god but Allah, because His saying: [Az-Zukhruf 43:28] is "there is no god but Allah." So the meaning of his saying: [Az-Zukhruf 43:26-27] is the meaning of our saying "there is no god but Allah." Yes.
The student : Shaykh
The Shaykh : Yes
The student: Attached ...
The Shaykh : Which one?
The student: Disavowal of other than Allah and loyalty to Allah
The Shaykh : So it is conjoined ... it indicates that
He said (may Allah have mercy on him): "Among them is the verse in al-Baqarah regarding the disbelievers about whom Allah said:[Al-Baqarah 2:167]" [Al-Baqarah 2:165] So Allah the Exalted made love shirk (associating partners with Allah) if one loves something other than Allah as he loves Allah, for then he would be an associate with Allah in love. For this reason, your love for Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) must be pure, with no other love competing with it, even the love of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) is part of the love of Allah. And were it not that he is the Messenger of Allah, his love and obedience would not be obligatory except as the love of every believer is obligatory. But because he is the Messenger of Allah, his love is subordinate to the love of Allah. Know that it was mentioned to us earlier that love has causes and objects, and that it differs according to its object, just as joy also differs according to its object and its forms. When a person rejoices with music, songs, and displays, is his joy the same as his joy in the remembrance of Allah, the search for knowledge, and discussion of it? Is there a difference between this and that or not? For example, if we entertain a sick person with music, amusement, and the like, he may rejoice with it, or he may not. But if we assume he is one of those who rejoice with such things, is his joy in that like his joy in the remembrance of Allah and the opening of the door of hope for him, yes, and repentance? They are not equal. It is all joy and all delight for the soul, but this is not like that. There is a great difference between them. Likewise, in the matter of love, a person loves his son and loves his wife, does he not? But is this like that? It differs, even the type of love differs. He loves his father and loves his son, and there is a difference between the two loves due to the difference in their objects. He loves Allah and loves his son, and there is also a great difference between this and that. So whoever loves something as he loves Allah, loves the idol as he loves Allah, and makes the object of his love for the idol like the object of his love for Allah, he is a mushrik (one who associates partners with Allah) without doubt, a mushrik without any doubt. So the important thing is that love, O brothers, and all the inner matters of joy, happiness, sadness, and the like, all differ according to their objects. For example, if a person's recorder breaks, does he become sad or not? He becomes sad. And if his son dies,
The student: He becomes sad
The Shaykh : But there is a difference between them, right or not? There is a difference. This one is sad in one way, and this one is sad in another way. So the result is that these inner matters or the inner meanings in the soul differ according to their objects. So whoever makes the love of one of the created beings like the love of Allah, he has associated partners with Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). For this reason, we do not tell you "do not love anything," do not love anything at all. Love everything, but do not make it in the place of the love of Allah. And whatever nature takes you to, other than what Allah has forbidden, love it. The Muslims, Muhammad the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and those with him, seek in their worship a favor from their Lord and [His] pleasure. The favor is Paradise and the pleasure is the pleasure of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Do we say that this request or intention is forbidden, and that if you worship Allah for Paradise, you are a mushrik? Yes, it is said: You must worship Allah for Allah, not for yourself. If you worship Allah for Paradise, you are a mushrik with Allah. On this basis, the Messenger and his Companions would be mushrikin with Allah, because Allah the Exalted says:[Al-Fath 48:29] But Satan beautified their deeds for them and said, "Do not intend anything but Allah," as if, may He be exalted, as if He is a beloved to be reached. This is wrong. This is Allah the Exalted. Yes, no doubt we ask Allah the Exalted to make us and you among those who see Him in the Garden of Delight. We worship Allah for this, but also for His favor. So the result is that we must, O brothers, know these inner matters and that they differ according to their objects. Yes.
The author said (may Allah have mercy on him): "It mentions that they love their equals as they love Allah, which indicates that they love Allah with a great love" Or not? Because they love these idols as they love Allah, so they love them with a great love. "And He did not include them in Islam, so what about one who loves" Allah, here
The student: One who loves the equal
The Shaykh :"Whoever loves the idols more than he loves Allah, how much more so the one who loves only the idols and does not love Allah?" I seek refuge in Allah. Yes, these are the levels, and may Allah protect us: loving the idols as one loves Allah, loving the idols more than one loves Allah, and loving the idols while not loving Allah. I seek refuge in Allah. This is the greatest of them; this is the greatest of them. Among the grave-worshippers and polytheists today, there are people who love these idols more than they love Allah, and indeed, some of them may not love Allah at all, may Allah protect us. There is no doubt that these people are disbelievers. Even the one who loves the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) as he loves Allah is a polytheist, associating the Messenger with Allah in love, in his love for him.
The student: Because of His saying:
They took their rabbis
اتخذوا أحبارهمThe Shaykh :
They took their rabbis
اتخذوا أحبارهمThe student: Shirk of obedience
The Shaykh : Shirk of obedience. So it is closer to tawhid al-rububiyyah (oneness of lordship) than tawhid al-uluhiyyah (oneness of worship), because the ruling, whether legal or natural, belongs to whom? To Allah.
And in anything over which you disagree - its ruling is [to be referred] to Allah.

The Shaykh : Yes
