The Shaykh : His saying, the Exalted:
O mankind, worship your Lord, who created you and those before you
[Al-Baqarah 2:21]
All right.
worship your Lord, who created you and those before you
[Al-Baqarah 2:21]
And regarding the second Lord, there is no second Lord. This qualifier serves to clarify the reality that He is the One who created us and the One who created those before us. Similarly, His saying, the Exalted:
your step-daughters under your guardianship
[An-Nisa 4:23]
This is to clarify the most common reality. Likewise,
O you who have believed, respond to Allah and to the Messenger when he calls you to that which gives you life
[Al-Anfal 8:24]
Is the supplication of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) for his Ummah divided into two parts: supplication for those who will be revived and supplication for those who will not be revived, or is it all life? It is all life.
And thus We have revealed to you an inspiration of Our command.
[Ash-Shuraa 42:52]
But this is to clarify the reality. Once you understand that, know that any qualifier intended to clarify the reality is like the reasoning for the ruling. For example:
O mankind, worship your Lord, who created you and those before you
[Al-Baqarah 2:21]
And do not invoke besides Allah
[Yunus 10:106]
One, for He does not benefit you and does not harm you.
O you who have believed, respond to Allah and to the Messenger when he calls you
[Al-Anfal 8:24]
For He does not call you except to what gives you life. So this is the benefit when a qualifier is intended to clarify the reality: that this qualifier is like the reasoning for the ruling, as if it were said: this ruling is such and such because of such and such. So here,
And do not invoke besides Allah that which neither benefits you nor harms you
[Yunus 10:106]
Why? Because He does not benefit you and does not harm you. So on this basis, this qualifier is not conditional such that it has a concept... for you to call upon one who benefits you and harms you, because this is a matter that does not exist. He said:
For if you do, then you are indeed among the wrongdoers
Allah is the Greatest! Allah says to the Messenger:
If you do إن فعلت
And what does "you did" mean? You did, besides Allah, what does not benefit you and does not harm you. So if you [do so], in what state is your action? You are among the wrongdoers. Look at the verses! Glory be to Allah, the Magnificent! If you did [so], then you... I think the "in" is conditional and the "la" is negative? The answer to the condition is the clause "then you..." And his saying:
Then إذن
This is a qualifier because "idhan" is for a time, so what time?
The student: A time adverb.

The Shaykh : Yes, but which one: past, present, or future? Present, meaning that at the time of doing it, you are among the wrongdoers. But you may repent from it, and the description of wrongdoing will be removed from you. So the person before committing the sin is not a wrongdoer, and after committing the sin, if he repents from it, the description of wrongdoing is removed from him. But at the time of committing the sin, he is a wrongdoer. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When (a person) an adulterer commits illegal sexual intercourse then he is not a believer at the time he is doing it
Sahih al-Bukhari 6782
So that restriction... when? At the time of the action. Good.
For if you do, then you are indeed among the wrongdoers
What is the type of this wrongdoing?
The student : Shirk

The Shaykh : Shirk. This wrongdoing is shirk. Allah the Exalted said:
Indeed, association [with him] is great injustice." إن الشرك لظلم عظيم
[Luqman 31:13]
And Allah the Exalted did not say "You are among the polytheists." That means He shifted from the expression "You are then among the polytheists" to "You are among the wrongdoers" in order to clarify that shirk is a wrong. How is that? Because the fact that one who invokes other than Allah is a polytheist is a clear matter, but his being a wrongdoer may not be a clear matter from the verse. So if He had said: "Then you are among the polytheists," the meaning would be that Allah informed that the one who invokes besides Allah is a polytheist, and this is the intended ruling from the beginning. But if He said "among the wrongdoers," it means that He recorded this shirk as a wrong. Then He, the Exalted, said.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : Yes
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Yes, but if it is mentioned in the context of shirk, it is shirk, clarifying that it is a wrong, as Allah the Exalted said:
O my son, do not associate [anything] with Allah. Indeed, association [with him] is great injustice." يا بني لا تشرك بالله إن الشرك لظلم عظيم
[Luqman 31:13]
.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : Because it is great. Yes, as long as the context is shirk, and it is the wrong of shirk, which is the great wrong.
The student: According to the state of the one who supplicates...

The Shaykh : Yes, supplication is major shirk...
