The Ruling on Supplicating Against the Oppressor
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner says: A number of people have wronged me, and when my psychological pain reaches its peak, I supplicate against them. When my soul calms down, I seek Allah’s forgiveness and try to forgive them, but I return to supplicating against them when I think about the pain they caused me. Do you have any guidance, O Shaykh?
Answer:
There is no blame on you for supplicating against one who has wronged you to the extent of his wrongdoing. Allah the Exalted said: [Surat al-Nisa: 148]. So one who is wronged deserves to be supplicated against. If you allow it and pardon, you will have a great reward. If you supplicate against one who wronged you to the extent of his wrongdoing, and that Allah will recompense him for his wrongdoing with what he deserves, there is no blame on you. And if you leave it and pardon, the reward is greater. You will have a great reward if you pardon and are patient. Yes.
