Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The author (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "And the saying of Allah, Mighty and Majestic:
And warn by the Qur'an those who fear that they will be gathered before their Lord - for them besides وَأَنْذِرْ بِهِ الَّذِينَ يَخَافُونَ أَنْ يُحْشَرُوا إِلَى رَبِّهِمْ لَيْسَ لَهُمْ مِنْ دُونِهِ
[Al-An'am 6:51]
"
to the end. "Warn thereby"—the warning is the information that includes the threat. This warning warns you; it informs you of something, what? It includes the threat. As for mere news, it is not a warning. And his saying:
Warn thereby أنذر به
The address is to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and the pronoun in "thereby" refers to the Qur'an, as Allah the Exalted said:
And thus We have revealed to you an Arabic Qur'an that you may warn the Mother of Cities [Makkah] and those around it وكذلك أوحينا إليك قرآناً عربيا لتنذر أم القرى ومن حولها
[Ash-Shuraa 42:7]
And He said in another verse:
that you may warn thereby and as a reminder to the believers. لتنذر به وذكرى للمؤمنين
[Al-A'raf 7:2]
And here He said:
And warn thereby وأنذر به
meaning by the Qur'an.
those who fear that they will be gathered before their Lord الَّذِينَ يَخَافُونَ أَنْ يُحْشَرُوا إِلَى رَبِّهِمْ
[Al-An'am 6:51]
That is, they fear the gathering before Allah, meaning they fear the evil of punishment that will befall them in that gathering. "Gathering" means collection, and it includes the meaning of bringing together, meaning they are gathered, i.e., collected, until they reach Allah. So it includes the meaning of reaching.
And his saying:
for them besides Him will be no protector and no intercessor ليس لهم من دونه ولي ولا شفيع
[Al-An'am 6:51]
This is the point of the verse, meaning that for those who fear the gathering, there is no protector or intercessor besides Allah; no protector who supports them and no intercessor who mediates for them. And his saying:
for them besides Him will be no protector ليس لهم من دونه ولي
[Al-An'am 6:51]
implies that for them, with His permission, there is a protector and an intercessor, or not? As Allah the Exalted said:
Your ally is none but Allah and [therefore] His Messenger إنما وليكم الله ورسوله
[Al-Ma'idah 5:55]
So here, in this verse, the negation of intercession is from besides Allah, meaning from besides His permission, Glorified and Exalted is He. Its implication is that it is established by what? By His permission. And this is the intended meaning. So intercession, therefore, from besides Allah is impossible, and intercession with His permission is possible and permissible. As for other than Allah, such as kings and sultans, intercession is done with their permission and without their permission, or not? That is, it is possible for someone who is close to the sultan not to intercede except after asking for permission, saying, "Allow me to intercede for so-and-so." And it is possible to intercede without asking for permission; he comes and sits with the sultan or the king and says, "I intercede for so-and-so and so-and-so." But Allah, Mighty and Majestic, no one intercedes except with His permission, due to the perfection of His authority. Yes.
