Vows for other than Allah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fourth question of Fatwa No. ( 4497 )
Q 4: My wife was ill, and I took her to the doctors, but they
were unable to cure her. Some of the people of good suggested that I make a vow to my master Ibrahim al-Dasوقي in the city of ( Damanhour ) in Egypt, so I did. After a while, Allah the Mighty and Majestic cured her. I wanted to spend a night in the Shaykh’s name to fulfill the vow, so one of the jurists of the town told me: “This is forbidden.” What is the Islamic ruling on this?

A 4:The vow you made is forbidden, indeed it is major shirk (associating partners with Allah); because a vow is an act of worship for Allah, so it is not permissible to direct it to anyone other than Him, and based on this, it is not permissible to fulfill it; because he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
for a vow to do an act of disobedience to Allah must not be fulfilled, neither must one do something over which a human being has no control.لا وفاء لنذر في معصية الله، ولا فيما لا يملك ابن آدم
Sunan Abi Dawud 3313Sahih (Al-Albani)
And because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever vows to obey Allah, let him obey Him, and whoever vows to disobey Allah, let him not disobey Him.من نذر أن يطيع الله فليطعه ومن نذر أن يعصي الله فلا يعصه
Sunan Ibn Majah 2126Sahih (Darussalam)
Narrated byal-Bukhariin his (Sahih) and Abu Dawud narrated the first oneAbu Dawudwith a sound chain. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
