Ruling on the greeting of the mosque during the sermon

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: A discussion took place between me and some of the brothers praying in a rural mosque in the Democratic Republic of Sudan regarding the two rak'ahs prayed upon entering the mosque while the imam is delivering the sermon. I ask the Shaykh to issue a ruling on this matter: is it permissible or not? Please note that the brothers praying in that old mosque follow the school of Imam Malik.

A: The Sunnah upon entering the mosque is for the one entering to pray two rak'ahs as the greeting of the mosque, even if the imam is delivering the sermon; based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
If anyone of you enters a Mosque, he should not sit until he has offered a tworak` at prayer.
Sahih al-Bukhari 1167
It was narrated by the two Shaykhs in the two Sahihs.
And what Muslim narrated in his Sahih from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When any one of you comes on Friday, while the Imam delivers the sermon, he should observe two rak'ahs and should make them short.
Sahih Muslim 875g
.
This is an explicit text in the matter, and it is not permissible for anyone to contradict it. Perhaps Imam Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) did not receive this Sunnah, as it is established from him that he forbade the two rak'ahs during the sermon. And if the Sunnah from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is authentic, it is not permissible for anyone to contradict it based on the saying of any person, whoever he may be; based on the saying of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) :
O you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you. And if you disagree over anything, refer it to Allah and the Messenger, if you should believe in Allah and the Last Day. That is the best [way] and best in result.
[Al-Nisa: 59], and His saying (Mighty and Majestic):
And in anything over which you disagree - its ruling is [to be referred] to Allah.
[Al-Shura: 10].
And it is known that the ruling of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) is from the ruling of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) , based on His saying (Mighty and Majestic):
He who obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah
[Al-Nisa: 80], and success is from Allah.
