The one who washes the dead should be patient and seek reward from Allah in washing the deceased

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: A certain woman used to wash the deceased as a volunteer, but eventually she refused to continue this work despite the need for her, claiming that her feelings had become numb and harsh toward the deceased. Do you agree with this opinion or not?

A: It is prescribed for her to be patient and seek reward from Allah in washing the deceased, if the need for her is pressing and she is known for goodness and proficiency in this work; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
And whoever fulfilled the needs of his brother, Allah will fulfill his needs.من كان في حاجة أخيه كان الله في حاجته
Sahih al-Bukhari 6951
It is agreed upon as authentic, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
And Allah is engaged in helping the worshipper as long as the worshipper is engaged in helping his brother.والله في عون العبد ما كان العبد في عونن أخيه
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1425Sahih (Darussalam)
It was narrated by Muslim in his Sahih. There are many hadiths in this meaning.
