The Sunnah is to bury the deceased in the Islamic country where he died

Q: His Eminence Shaykh Abdul Aziz ibn Abdullah ibn Baz, the Grand Mufti of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the President of the Council of Senior Scholars, may Allah preserve him, prolong his life, and benefit Islam and Muslims through him.
Peace be upon you, and Allah’s mercy and blessings, and after that:
So what is your guidance and direction, may Allah protect you, regarding this matter of ours, which we present to you? Our nephew, A. A. A.—an Egyptian national—died here in the Kingdom, may Allah forgive him and have mercy on him. He was the sole provider for his family, supporting them and striving to earn a livelihood for himself and them. Now his home consists of women, children, and orphans who are in greatest need of assistance and generosity. They have requested that his body be transported to them in Egypt. When his sponsor learned of their request and their eagerness, he prepared all the material requirements for the transport. What is your guidance, may Allah support you, in this matter? We have heard some advisors suggest that he should be buried in the town where he died, and that the funds intended for the transport be given to his family and orphaned children so they can expand their means and meet their needs. Please inform us, may you be rewarded.
A: And upon you be peace, the mercy of Allah, and His blessings. After that: The deceased died in an Islamic country, so burying him in the country where he died is more preferable and more in accordance with the Sunnah. It has not reached us that any of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) was transferred from the foreign land where he died to Madinah or elsewhere. In this case, there is another benefit, which is providing financial support for his family and children, may Allah guide them all. And peace be upon you, the mercy of Allah, and His blessings.
