The Ruling on One Who Is Unaware of the Obligation of Zakah on Gold Jewelry

Q: A woman had gold, but she did not pay zakah on it because she was unaware of the ruling on zakah. Currently, she has sold the gold. After she learned the ruling on zakah and its obligation, she paid zakah on the gold she had. Is she sinful for that? Does she owe zakah on her previous gold? If so, how does she pay it, given that she does not know the amount of the nisab? Please inform us, may Allah reward you.

A: She owes zakah on her jewelry from the time she learned the ruling, according to the correct opinion. As for the previous period during which she did not know the legal ruling, she owes nothing.
