The ruling on performing Hajj on behalf of one who died without leaving a bequest to perform Hajj

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: If a man dies without bequeathing to anyone to perform Hajj on his behalf, is the obligatory duty dropped from him if his son performs Hajj on his behalf?

Answer: If his Muslim son, who has already performed Hajj for himself, performs Hajj on his behalf, the obligatory duty is dropped from him by that. Likewise, if someone other than his son from among the Muslims who have performed Hajj for themselves performs Hajj on his behalf; for what is established in the two Sahihs from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) is that a woman said: O Messenger of Allah, the obligation of Allah upon His servants has overtaken my father, who is an old man who is unable to perform Hajj or travel, so should I perform Hajj on his behalf? He said:
Yes, perform Hajj on his behalf.نعم حجي عنه
. There are other narrations in this chapter that indicate what we have mentioned.
