What is the ruling on cheating in school exams?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Okay, may I ask you another question?

The Shaykh : Please, go ahead.

The questioner : I want to ask about the issue of cheating in the Tawjihi exam. I mean, to be honest with you, on the day of the physics exam, a girl I didn’t know and who didn’t know me came up to me and said, “Ask me any question you want; I am ready to give it to you.” Praise be to Allah, I did not take anything from her, but I want to ask: in this situation, is it forbidden or permissible?

The Shaykh : It is forbidden. All cheating is forbidden, and the Messenger (peace be upon him) said:
Whoever cheats us is not one of us. مَن غشَّنا فليس منَّا
Sunan Ibn Majah 2225Da'if (Darussalam)
.

The questioner : The proctor herself told me that this is your future and your name is on it, so cheating in it is forbidden... I felt like I didn’t know whether it was forbidden or permissible. She told me it is better that I not cheat. So is cheating in this place also forbidden?

The Shaykh : It is forbidden.

The questioner : Oh, okay, thank you very much.

The Shaykh : You are welcome.

The questioner : Well, peace be upon you.

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace.
