Explanation of the author's statement: And his saying (peace and blessings be upon him): "Hell will not cease to have people thrown into it, and it will say: Is there any more?"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Then the author (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "And his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
Hell will continue to have people thrown into it and ask if there are any more لا تزال جهنم يلقى فيها وهي تقول هل من مزيد
Mishkat al-Masabih 5695
"
When is this?
The student: On the Day of Resurrection.

The Shaykh : This is on the Day of Resurrection.
People are thrown into it لا تزال يُلقى فيها
It means that people and stones are thrown into it, because Allah the Exalted says:
whose fuel is men and stones وقودُها الناس والحجارة
[Al-Baqarah 2:24]
It can also be said that only people are thrown into it, and the stones have always been present in it, and knowledge is with Allah.
Thrown into it يلقى فيها
And in His saying:
Thrown into it يلقى فيها
there is evidence that its people, may Allah protect us from them, are thrown into it by being cast in, not that they enter with honor, but rather:
They will be called to the Fire of Hell, called in يدعون إلى نار جهنم دعا
Every time a company is thrown into it, its keepers ask them, "Did there not come to you a warner?" كل ما ألقي فيها فوج سألهم خزنتها ألم يأتكم نذير
[Al-Mulk 67:8]
May Allah protect me and you from it by His grace and His mercy.
Hell will not cease to have people thrown into it, and it will say: Is there any more? لا تزال يلقى فيها وهي تقول هل من مزيد
It says, the Fire says: Is there any more?
The student: Yes.

The Shaykh : Does it speak?
The student: Yes.

The Shaykh : Yes.
The student: Yes.

The Shaykh :
And they will say to their skins, "Why have you testified against us?" They will say, "We were made to speak by Allah, who has made everything speak وقالوا لجلودهم لما شهدتم علينا قالوا أنطقنا الله الذي أنطق كل شيء
[Fussilat 41:21]
(Glorified and Exalted is He)
And His saying:
Is there any more? هل من مزيد
The "is there" here is for the purpose of requesting, meaning "add more." It is further from the truth than the one who said it is for negation, that the interrogation here is for negation, and the meaning, according to his claim, is "there is no more to what is in me." The evidence for the falsity of this interpretation is that the interrogation is for negation in His saying:
Until the Lord of Majesty places His foot in it حتى وضع رب العزة فيها رجله
And in a narration:
His foot upon it عليها قدمه
Pay attention, because this indicates what? That it is requesting an increase.
Is there any more? هل من مزيد
So it is as if it is requesting with longing for those who are thrown into it, an increase over what is in it. Yes.
Till the Lord of Power and Honor حتى يضع رب العزة
Sahih al-Bukhari 6661
Note that "the Lord of Majesty" was mentioned because the occasion is one of majesty, dominance, and subjugation. And here,
Perhaps رب
means "the Owner" and does not mean "the Creator," because majesty is one of the attributes of Allah, and the attributes of Allah the Exalted are not created. And His saying:
His foot in it فيها رجله
And in a narration:
His foot upon it عليها قدمه
"In it" or "upon it" – their meanings are the same. The apparent meaning is that
in في
means "upon," like His saying the Exalted:
I will crucify you on the trunks of palm trees ولأصلبنكم في جذوع النخل
[Taha 20:71]
Meaning upon it.
As for "foot" and "leg," their meanings are the same. The foot and the leg have the same meaning. The human leg is called a foot because it leads in walking, for a person cannot move with his leg unless he brings it forward; he brings one forward, then the other, then the other, until he walks. Good. It is derived from this hadith the affirmation of the attribute of majesty for Allah the Glorious and Exalted.
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Yes, is there anything else in it?
The student: Yes.

The Shaykh : He said:
whereupon its different sides will come close to each other فينزوي بعضها إلى بعض
Sahih al-Bukhari 7384
"Contract" means "gather together."
Some of it toward some of it بعضها إلى بعض
From the greatness of the foot of the Creator, the Glorious and Exalted.
And it says, Enough, enough وتقول قط قط
Means "enough, enough," meaning "I do not want anyone." In this hadith, from the attributes, is the affirmation of majesty for Allah the Glorious and Exalted, due to His saying:
Lord of Majesty رب العزة
And the affirmation of voluntary actions.
The student: Places

The Shaykh : Places, places. The Lord of Majesty, and the affirmation of the foot for Allah the Glorious and Exalted, or the leg, due to His saying:
His foot رجله
Or
His foot قدمه

Good. And in it, other than the attributes, first is the affirmation of speech for inanimate objects.
The student: Hell

The Shaykh : Yes, due to His saying:
And it says وهي تقول
And at the end of the hadith also:
Then it says, Enough, enough فتقول قط قط

And in it is a warning from the Fire, due to His saying:
It will not cease to be thrown into it, and it will say, Is there any more? لا تزال يلقى فيها وهي تقول هل من مزيد

And in it is the affirmation of the favor of Allah the Glorious and Exalted, for Allah the Exalted has undertaken for the Fire to fill it.
I will surely fill Hell with jinn لأملأن جهنم من الجنة
[Hud 11:119]
So when its people enter it and there remains space in it, and it says "Is there any more?", Allah places His foot upon it, so some of it contracts into other parts and it becomes full by this contraction. And this is from the favor of Allah the Glorious and Exalted. Otherwise, Allah is able to create groups and fill it with them, completing its fullness with them. But He, the Glorious and Exalted, does not punish anyone without a sin. Therefore, in Paradise, there remains space from those who entered it from the people of the world, so Allah creates groups on the Day of Resurrection and enters them into Paradise by His favor and mercy. As for the Fire, He does not create groups to punish them eternally.
Good, so do we believe that Allah the Exalted has a foot and a leg in reality, and not in a non-real sense?
The student: In reality.

The Shaykh : In reality, resembling
The student: No.

The Shaykh : Resembling the legs of the created beings
The student: No.

The Shaykh : No. Good, what do the people of the Sunnah call such an attribute? They call them the attributes
The student: Essential.

The Shaykh : The self-attributes, the informational attributes. The self-attributes, the informational attributes. They say this because they are not known except by report, and because the counterpart of their named thing is... are parts for us and components. But we do not say regarding Allah that they are parts and components, because this is impossible for Allah the Glorious and Exalted.
Good, did the Asha'irah and the people of distortion agree with us? No, the people of distortion say "He places His foot upon it" means a group of His servants who are deserving of entry. Does "foot" mean a group? They said yes. The hadith of Dawud (peace be upon him): Allah sent to him a group of locusts, meaning a group of locusts. In our colloquial language, we call the small group of locusts what?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : I don't have anyone from
The student: ...

The Shaykh : They call them "qasumul." "Qasumul" means a small amount of it. Good, the important thing is that they say this, may Allah protect you, you should erase it, it is better, because it may contain something. I say "the foot of the locusts," "the group of the locusts." They say "He places His foot," meaning the group whom He puts into the Fire, whom He puts into the Fire. Good, is this correct? Yes
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Never, because the word is "upon it"
