The Shaykh : He says: "And following the will of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) where he said:
You must therefore follow my sunna and that of the rightly guided Caliphs. Hold to it and stick fast to it. 1 Avoid novelties عليكم بسنتي وسنة الخلفاء الراشدين المهديين من بعدي تمسكوا بها وعضوا عليها بالنواجذ وإياكم ومحدثات الأمور

"
Who told us this? The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).
You must therefore follow my sunna and that of the rightly guided Caliphs عليكم بسنتي وسنة الخلفاء الراشدين المهديين من بعدي
Mishkat al-Masabih 165Sahīh (Zubair `Aliza'i)
The first to enter into this description, and the most deserving to be included in it, are the four Caliphs: Abu Bakr, 'Umar, 'Uthman, and 'Ali. Then comes a man with a black monocle and one blind eye, having only one eye, who says: "The first adhan for Jumu'ah is a bid'ah (religious innovation), a bid'ah, you son of a bitch?" He says: "Yes, it is not known from the time of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). 'Uthman, the Commander of the Faithful, established it, but we do not care about it because it did not exist in the time of the Messenger. This is a bid'ah, and we must restrict ourselves to the second adhan only." Man, fix your glasses; you have a black monocle and do not look with only one eye. Think. Yes, but he says, "Where is the Messenger regarding what He legislated?" Yes, look at this transgression, may Allah protect us from it. Did any of the Companions, who are more knowledgeable than you and more zealous than you for the religion of Allah, rise up to reject it? Did they say to you, "When he finished the prayer in Mina, they disapproved of him, and even Ibn Mas'ud said 'Hasbi Allah' (Allah is sufficient for me) when it was told to him that he prayed four rak'ahs, even though we know for certain that he did not pray with the intention of contradicting, but rather he had a ta'wil (figurative interpretation), may Allah be pleased with him?" But despite that, these contradictors come. Yes, "And after them came a generation..." I say, they contradict. These contradictors come and then speak about such matters. Yes, and it is fitting to say to him: "This is not your basket, so go away". We say that 'Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) is one of the Rightly Guided Caliphs whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered us to follow. So your disobedience is against you, and woe to you. We obey the Messenger and do not obey you. He says:
You must then follow my sunnah and that of the فعليكم بسنتي وسنة الخلفاء
Sunan Abi Dawud 4607Sahih (Al-Albani)
So we obey the Messenger and do not obey you. And we say that 'Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) relied on the principle of Bilal's adhan before Fajr, not for the Fajr prayer, but
So that the standing one may return and the sleeping one may be awakened ليرجع القائم ويوقظ النائم
'Uthman's adhan, or he ordered the adhan on Friday, not for the presence of the imam, but for the presence of the people, because Madinah had grown and expanded, and people needed to be informed of it before the imam's presence so that their presence would coincide with the imam's presence. Whoever knows history knows how Madinah was in the time of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and how it was in the time of 'Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him). The difference is vast and great. How many years? The Muslim community was expanding, its wealth was increasing, and the visitors to the seat of the Caliphate were increasing. Two years and four months for 'Umar, for Abu Bakr and 'Umar, how many? Ten years. 'Uthman twelve years. Let them be in his first year, meaning thirteen years. Thirteen years at least after the death of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). How do you imagine it after the spread of the Muslims, the increase in conquests, and the increase in wealth? The crown of Kisra was brought to Madinah in the time of 'Umar. How do you imagine the expansion of the lands? It is a big thing, a big thing. So 'Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) ordered, and we bear witness that he was correct in that, that the first adhan be called, then the second adhan at the presence of the imam, and then the third adhan for the iqamah of the prayer.
The important thing is that the people of the Sunnah and the community know their own worth and know the worth of the imams, the imams of the Muslims, from the Companions and those after them. They know their status and respect their words. Yes, if they see that a matter contradicts the words of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), clearly, clearly the contradiction, then at that time they say: "We excuse this by saying that it is either a ta'wil (figurative interpretation) or that he was not fully aware of the Sunnah. Not all of the Sunnah came to him, and the Sunnah may be hidden from the greatest of the Companions. It is not hidden from all of us that the hadith of the plague was hidden from whom? From 'Umar and the greatest of the Companions from the Muhajireen and the Ansar, until 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) exerted his effort after multiple consultations, exerting his effort until his ijtihad, after consulting the Companions, led him to return to Madinah. And after that, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf came and informed of the hadith from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), which, praise be to Allah, was exactly in agreement with the ijtihad of 'Umar and the Companions with him."
I say: If we were given a statement from Abu Bakr, or 'Umar, or 'Uthman, or 'Ali, or from below them from this Ummah that contradicts the words of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) in a clear contradiction, what is obligatory for us? Yes, to take the words of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and excuse this man. We excuse and say this is from the category of excused ijtihad, from the category of excused ijtihad, and we seek an excuse for him. As for making this error, for example, a song about misleading him, no, they do not look at the correctness and the praiseworthy effort, nor at the explicit text. And this, by Allah, is a great and serious matter. So the obligatory, as Shaykh al-Islam (may Allah have mercy on him) said, is that we be from the people of the Sunnah, preserving the will of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) by which He advised us. He said:
You must therefore follow my sunna and that of the rightly guided Caliphs. Hold to it عليكم بسنتي وسنة الخلفاء الراشدين المهديين من بعدي تمسكوا بها
Mishkat al-Masabih 165Sahīh (Zubair `Aliza'i)
In your hands
and bite down on it with your molars وعضوا عليها بالنواجذ
the utmost molars. When one holds this, he puts it in his mouth with his utmost molars. Who will take it out of his mouth and his hands? No one will take it out. Hold fast to them and bite down on them with your molars. Then He warned:
Beware of newly invented matters إياكم ومحدثات الأمور
.
And blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions. It has preceded us that from the methodology of the people of the Sunnah and the community is following the actions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) outwardly and inwardly, and following the actions of the earliest predecessors from the Muhajireen and the Ansar. And we addressed in the course of that that it is obligatory for us to respect the opinions of the previous scholars and to believe that they are not infallible, but we do not belittle their words or despise them, or deny them for it, as some people do. Rather, we say: They are thanked for their effort in their ijtihad, and they are excused in what? In their error if they erred. Good. And we also mentioned that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) willed the Sunnah of the Rightly Guided Caliphs, and at the head of them is whom, my brother? Yes, you.
The student: Abu Bakr.

The Shaykh : And 'Ali, and 'Ali, and the Companions and the Tabi'un. Answer a good answer because I saw on you the effects of sleep. It is apparent that the two Caliphs after 'Uthman ibn 'Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) in what? In the adhan for Jumu'ah before the presence of the imam. And we said that some people said this is a bid'ah and we do not accept it and we reject it. Man, are you more knowledgeable than 'Uthman ibn 'Affan? Are you more knowledgeable than the Companions who approved it? Fear Allah in yourself. What are you to object to 'Uthman ibn 'Affan with the Companions? And we said that 'Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) has a trace in that, which is the saying of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding Bilal's adhan before the time. He said what?
To wake up your sleeper and return your one who is standing ليوقظ نائمكم ويرجع قائمكم
Yes, that is right. Good.
