We have an elderly grandfather with a bad temper, and we fear Allah if we leave him to sit alone, but if we sit with him, he speaks very foul language that is not fitting

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : We have an elderly grandfather with a bad temper, so we fear Allah if we leave him to sit alone, and since if we sit with him he speaks very foul language that is not fitting for his age, and if we try to greet him he does what is not befitting him, and he is constantly suspicious, do we sin in our behavior toward him and our refraining from talking to him in order to avert harm? I ask for guidance and advice.

The Shaykh : As for sitting with him and bringing him joy, this is among the praiseworthy matters and is part of being dutiful to him.
As for talking to him: if talking to him leads to him speaking forbidden foul language, then do not talk to him. Limit yourselves to the greeting and asking, "How are you, our father?" or the like. If you wish, you may continue talking with him, and then if he speaks something that is not befitting, advise him.
