Explanation of the words of Ibn Malik (may Allah have mercy on him): "And make the nun for the like of 'they do' *** a marker of the nominative case"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And for this reason, he said:
"And make the nun for the like of 'they do' *** a marker of the nominative case"
Make the nun a marker of the nominative case. You say: "The men are standing" and "You all understand." You say: "The two men are standing" and "You two understand." You address a woman and say: "You are doing." You say: "You are doing." These are five verbs called the five verbs. Some people call them the five examples, and the meaning is the same.
"And make the nun for the like of 'they do' *** a marker of the nominative case"
So you say: "The two men are standing"
"Are standing": a present tense verb in the nominative case, and its marker of the nominative case is the retention of the nun. The alif is the subject (fa'il), and the retention of the nun is because it is one of the five verbs. The alif is the subject.
And you say: "The men are standing"
"Are standing": a present tense verb in the nominative case, and its marker of the nominative case is the retention of the nun. The waw is the subject (fa'il) because it is one of the five verbs.
And you say to the woman: "You are standing"
"Are standing": a present tense verb in the nominative case, and its marker of the nominative case is the retention of the nun because it is one of the five verbs. The ya is the subject (fa'il). "Are standing," good. What remains for us is the accusative and the jussive cases.
