I bought a car on installment, so what is the ruling on that?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : Peace be upon you.

The Shaykh: And upon you peace.

The questioner : Is it possible for me to speak with Professor Shaykh Al-Albani?

The Shaykh: As for speaking with him, that is not possible, but asking him a question is possible.

The questioner : Yes, I am asking him; that is the intention.

The Shaykh: And I am saying, what is the intention?

The questioner : ... I am asking him ... or his daughter about the car I bought on installment, and that ... I need his advice, so I do not know.

The Shaykh: It is not permissible to buy anything through installment, because what is known today about installment sales is that they take an increase in the price in exchange for the installment sale, is that not so?

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh: Who am I speaking with?

The questioner : I bought the car and paid its price.

The Shaykh: May Allah guide you, and after the disaster has happened, you ask.

The questioner : No, I do not want to see.

The Shaykh: What is the benefit?

The questioner : I mean, should I sell it and get rid of it?

The Shaykh: Did you ask? Did you ask before you bought it?

The questioner : Because the situation when I bought it was that I was single and living in a remote area, and I was a new employee, so I found out that instead of taking a taxi with a strange man, I was forced to buy it.

The Shaykh: The end does not justify the means in the Islamic Shari'ah. It was necessary to buy it in a lawful manner, but since you have fallen into the violation, return it to the one from whom you bought it. And if a Muslim is caught between two evils, he chooses the lighter of them. Perhaps you understood me?

The questioner: Yes, now, praise be to Allah, when I got married and Allah blessed me, I wanted to get rid of it and repent to my Lord, meaning I will sell it, and I have debts to the bank ... at the price of the riba (usury or interest) that I took from ...

The Shaykh: Allah is the Greatest!

The questioner: Yes, I am entangled, and by Allah, I am very sorry for what I did. I want to repent with a sincere repentance, so I thought about it, and I even have a belt I bought on loan from the bank, so I want to get rid of that too.

The Shaykh: Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar. Allah is the Helper in every situation. This sale and this purchase are not permissible, especially through the banks. So repent to Allah, and as He - the Exalted - said:
And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord and a garden as wide as the heavens and earth, prepared for the righteous
[Ali 'Imran 3:133]
So fear Allah and save yourself, and peace be upon you.

The questioner: And upon you peace.
