The Shaykh’s remarks on the two books *Tahdhib al-Kamal* and *Tahdhib al-Tahdhib*.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : He has one answer, because each of the two books has its own specific merit. In each of them, there is something that is not found in the other. This is a reality we can touch with our hands, and it is the detail that clarifies this reality.

The questioner : I wish you would give us a brief, simple overview in this session.

The Shaykh : But that requires a special session. In this general session, it is found in the first book.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : *Tahdhib al-Kamal* comprehensively covers the teachers and students of the biographee in a way you will not find in any other book, especially not in *Tahdhib al-Tahdhib*. That is one point. The second is that it arranges the names of the teachers and students according to the letters of the alphabet, from alif to ba. So, if a researcher is looking for a specific person and wants to know whether he is among the teachers or the students of this biographee, in *Tahdhib al-Tahdhib* he must go through all the names, whether teachers or students, jumping around in the *Tahdhib*. If he is in the letter ya, he goes to the end; if he is in the letter alif, he does not pass it, and so on. This saves a great deal of time.

The questioner : This is in *Tahdhib al-Kamal*.

The Shaykh : This is *Tahdhib al-Kamal*.

The questioner : *Tahdhib al-Tahdhib*.

The Shaykh : This is the second merit, and the third merit, and this is one of the wonders of knowledge, O Allah.

The questioner : Our Shaykh, if you please, regarding a person who deals with the attributes of the Lord—(Mighty and Majestic)—is it permissible for him to gesture with his hand...?
