The ruling on touching the Yemeni Corner of the Ka'bah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: What is the ruling on wiping or pointing to the southwestern corner of the Sacred Ka'bah during tawaf? And how many takbirs are said there and at the Black Stone? Please inform us, may Allah reward you with good.

Answer: It is prescribed for the one performing tawaf to touch the Black Stone and the Yemeni Corner in every lap of the tawaf, and it is recommended for him to kiss the Black Stone, especially in every lap along with touching it, even in the final lap if that is possible without hardship. As for with hardship, crowding is disliked for him, and it is prescribed that he point to the Black Stone with his hand or his staff and say takbir. As for the Yemeni Corner, we are not aware of anything indicating that one should point to it; rather, he touches it with his right hand if he can do so without hardship, and he does not kiss it, and he says: "Bismillah, Allahu Akbar" or "Allahu Akbar." As for with hardship, it is not prescribed for him to touch it, and he proceeds with his tawaf without pointing or saying takbir, because that was not reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) nor from his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) —as I clarified that in my book (Al-Tahqiq wa al-Iyadh li-Kathir min Masail al-Hajj wa al-'Umrah wa al-Ziyarah).
As for the takbir, it is to be said once, and I am not aware of anything indicating the prescription of repeating it. And he says in his entire tawaf whatever is easy of the supplications and prescribed dhikr, and he concludes every lap with what is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he used to conclude every lap with, which is the famous supplication:
But among them is he who says, "Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire."وِمِنْهُم مَّن يَقُولُ رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
[Surat al-Baqarah: 201].
And all the dhikr and supplications in tawaf and sa'y are a recommended practice (sunnah) and not obligatory.
As for the two corners adjacent to the Stone, it is not prescribed to wipe them or to single them out with dhikr or supplication, because that was not transmitted from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). And Allah the Exalted said:
There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent patternلَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ
[Surat al-Ahzab: 21]. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
He who did any act for which there is no sanction from our behalf, that is to be rejected.من عمل عملًا ليس عليه أمرنا فهو رد
Sahih Muslim 1718b
And success is from Allah.
