The Ruling on Selling the Unknown

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
We present to your esteemed attention what is sold in some commercial markets, which consists of a small box worth (one riyal) containing an unknown item, the value of which may exceed one riyal or be less. What is the ruling on buying this box while I am ignorant of what it contains? Is this sale valid or not permissible?
May Allah preserve you.
Answer: Buying this box is not permissible; because buying it involves excessive uncertainty in a contract, and:
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade selling with excessive uncertainty in a contractنهى النبي ﷺ عن بيع الغرر
