The Obligation to Renew the Marriage Contract if One of the Spouses Does Not Pray and Then Repents
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: Peace be upon you, and Allah’s mercy and blessings, and after that:
I refer to your inquiry, registered with the Department of Scholarly Research and Ifta under number (499) and dated 6/2/1408 AH, in which you ask about a number of questions.
Answer: I inform you that a servant asking his Lord, after completing the obligatory prayer, to expand his provision, rectify his offspring, and the like, is permissible between him and his Lord, without raising the voice or the hands.
As for the man who married a woman who prays while he does not pray, and then repented afterwards, it is obligatory to renew the contract with a guardian and two just witnesses if the woman agrees to it, according to the most correct of the scholars' opinions.
May Allah guide everyone to what brings Him pleasure; He is the All-Hearing, the Responsive.
And peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
