The ruling on the marriage contract if the husband and wife do not pray, and then they repent

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
After this, a message was sent by one of the listening brothers. He says: I am married, and Allah has blessed me with sons and daughters, praise be to Allah. However, when the contract was made between me and my wife, we were all not praying. Now Allah has guided us to the straight path. What is required of us? Is the contract valid?

Answer:
Yes, the contract is valid; it has the ruling of validity—praise be to Allah—and repentance wipes out what came before it. It is like the other disbelievers: if a pair of polytheists, a pair of Jews, or a pair of Christians marry, their marriage is valid if its conditions are met. Likewise, if those who do not pray marry, the contract is valid if the conditions are apparent, and he does not pray and she does not pray, both of them being the same. So if he married her with a guardian and there is no impediment—praise be to Allah—if the conditions are present, the contract is valid. And if they repent, Allah will accept their repentance.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
