The Ruling on Disposing of Lost Property in the Sacred Precinct

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: A woman found a piece of gold in the Makkah Haram, so she took it and added it to the gold she had, and sold them all together. She has regretted doing so. What is required of her? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer: She must give its value to the court, along with a description of the gold, so that its owner may come and ask the committee prepared for lost items.
If the time has been long, she should give it in charity on behalf of its owner with the intention, and perhaps that will suffice, if Allah wills, along with repentance and seeking forgiveness. If the time has been short, she should give the amount to the court, and the court will give it to the committee.
