The Ruling on Dyeing Hair and Changing Grey Hair

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
It is a recommended practice... dyeing the hair?

Answer:
Dyeing the hair is a confirmed recommended practice... but what takes it out of the category of obligation is what is established from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he was seen at many times with white hairs that had not been changed, and likewise what is narrated from a group of the Companions that they left their grey hair. There is no doubt that it involves an expense that a person might overlook, and one might be lenient with it at certain times, in the busyness that may arise. So the most apparent and closest view is that it is a confirmed recommended practice.
Q: Black henna?
A: Anything that is pure black is not permissible; because it is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) from many angles the prohibition of changing grey hair to black: from the hadith of Jabir, the hadith of Anas, and other hadiths, all of which indicated the prohibition of changing to black. Among them is the hadith of Ibn Abbas in al-Nasa'i:
At the end of time there will be people who will use this black dye like the crops of doves who will not experience the fragrance of Paradise.يكون في آخر الزمان قومٌ يخضبون بالسواد كحواصل الحمام، لا يريحون رائحة الجنة
Sunan Abi Dawud 4212Sahih (Al-Albani)
. It was narrated by Ahmad, Abu Dawud, and al-Nasa'i with a good chain from Ibn Abbas.
Some of our brothers have recently compiled... the hadiths that came regarding this in a substantial part. It was presented to me; it is good, collecting all the hadiths that came regarding this.
