The Shaykh : In any case, we look at what it means.
The reader: "His statement: 'Adeeb. The Qadi said: The narrators of the book of Muslim differed regarding this word in two ways: The first is the narration of al-Samarqandi: 'Asaybagh' with a sakinah on the sad and a mu'jamah ghayn, and the second is the narration of the other narrators: 'Adeeb' with a mu'jamah dad and a sakinah 'ayn. He said: Likewise, the narrators of al-Bukhari differed on this. According to the second, it is the diminutive of 'dub' (hip) on a non-standard pattern, as if, because he described Abu Qatadah as a lion, he diminished this by reference to him and compared him to a 'dub' (hip) due to its weakness in pouncing and what it is described with of incapacity and foolishness. As for the first way, he described him with it because of the change in his color. It was said: He belittled and blamed him for the blackness of his color. It was said: Its meaning is that he is one of a color that is not praiseworthy. It was said: He described him with lowliness and weakness. Al-Khattabi said: 'Asaybagh' is a type of bird. He said: It is possible that he compared him to a weak plant called 'saybagha'; when it first emerges from the ground, the part of it nearest to the sun is yellow."

The Shaykh : The first meaning is the most correct: he compared him to a small 'dub' (hip) in contrast to the lion. This is the most appropriate thing. Yes.
