The reciter: Abdullah ibn Muslimah ibn Qa'nab narrated to us, Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us from Thabit from Anas, That the Messenger of Allah (may Allah send blessings and peace upon him) had his canine tooth broken on the day of Uhud, and he was wounded on his head, so he would wipe the blood from it and say: How can a people succeed who have wounded their Prophet and broken his canine tooth, while he is calling them to Allah? So Allah, Mighty and Majestic, revealed: "Nothing of the matter is yours.".
The Shaykh : This is what Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says to His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), saying:[Ali 'Imran 3:128]. So what about those people who come to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), seeking his aid and calling upon him, and do not ask him except in the most difficult circumstances? Perhaps they call upon Allah the Exalted for easy matters, but for difficult matters they call upon the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). So what about those who call upon others besides the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him)?
Like those who call upon 'Ali ibn Abi Talib in times of hardship, and swear by 'Ali ibn Abi Talib when their oaths become severe. If they were told to swear by Allah, they would swear, but if they were told to swear by 'Ali, they would not swear. They only swear by him for important, great matters.
And thus Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):[Ali 'Imran 3:128]. So if they do this, their affair is left to Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and it is not for you except to be patient and await victory from Allah the Exalted.
The Shaykh : This is what Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says to His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), saying:
Not for you, [O Muhammad, but for Allah], is the decision
