The Shaykh Muhammad ibn Salih al-Uthaymeen said: "So if the jewelry reaches the nisab of pure twenty dinars if it is gold, or two hundred dirhams if it is silver, then a quarter of a tenth is due in it.

The questioner : So if the jewelry reaches the nisab of pure twenty dinars if it is gold, or two hundred dirhams if it is silver, then a quarter of a tenth is due in it, based on the hadith of Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said
If you have two hundred dirhams and a lunar year has passed over them, then five dirhams are due in them, and nothing is due on you, meaning in gold, until you have twenty dinars. If you have twenty dinars and a lunar year has passed over them, then half a dinar is due in it.
Narrated by Abu Dawud.

The Shaykh : So what is the zakah of gold and silver? A quarter of a tenth, because half a dinar out of twenty is a quarter of a tenth. The tenth is two, and the half is a quarter. And it was made explicit in the hadith of Abu Bakrah, which al-Bukhari and others narrated
And in the silver, a quarter of a tenth is due in two hundred dirhams.
, yes.

The questioner : And after that, the servant must fear Allah as much as he is able, and exert his effort in seeking to know the truth from the Book and the Sunnah. If the truth becomes apparent to him from them, it is obligatory for him to act upon it, and not to prioritize the statement of any person over them, whoever that person may be.

The Shaykh : Whoever that person may be, this is dropped in my view.

The questioner : Nor any analogy from the analogies, whatever analogy it may be. And in case of disagreement, it is obligatory to return to the Book and the Sunnah, for they are the straight path and the just, upright balance. Allah the Exalted said
And if you disagree over anything, refer it to Allah and the Messenger, if you should believe in Allah and the Last Day. That is the best [way] and best in result.
[An-Nisa 4:59]
And returning to Allah is returning to His Book, and returning to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) is returning to his Sunnah, and his guidance in life and in death.
And Allah the Exalted said
But no, by your Lord, they will not [truly] believe until they make you, [O Muhammad], judge concerning that over which they dispute among themselves and then find within themselves no discomfort from what you have judged and submit in [full, willing] submission.
[An-Nisa 4:65]
.
So Allah the Exalted swore by His Lordship over His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), which is the most specific Lordship, with a confirmed oath, that there is no faith except that we make the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) the judge in every dispute between us, and not.
