Is it permissible to greet a person who is praying, whether alone or in congregation, and what is the evidence?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : And they are praying?

The Shaykh : Yes, he should greet them.

The questioner : I mean, is there evidence, may Allah reward you?

The Shaykh : Yes, there is. It is reported that the Companions, when they entered upon the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was praying, would say, "Peace be upon you," and he would return the greeting to them with a gesture of his hand.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : "He places the palm of his hand on the ground and the back of his hand toward the sky."

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : This is one hadith, and there is another hadith in which, in a different incident, he returned the greeting with a gesture of his head.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : And that is sufficient for you.

The questioner : May Allah reward you.

The Shaykh : And may He reward you.

The questioner : Shaykh, does this apply to the congregation as well?

The Shaykh : And what is the difference, may Allah reward you?

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh :
A Muslim has rights over another Muslim: when you meet him, greet him. للمسلم على المسلم حقٌّ ، إذا لقيته فسلِّم عليه
.

The questioner : Yes, based on the generality of the wording?

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you.

The Shaykh : And may He reward you.

The questioner : Peace be upon you and mercy from Allah.

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
