The reader: Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
He said -may Allah have mercy on him-: "Chapter on Repentance: The scholars said: Repentance is obligatory from every sin. If the sin is between the servant and Allah the Exalted and does not concern the right of a human being, it has three conditions:
First: that he abandons the sin.
Second: that he regrets having done it.
Third: that he resolves never to return to it. If one of the three is missing, his repentance is not valid".
The Shaykh : One of them, if one is missing.
The reader: "If one of the three is missing, his repentance is not valid. If the sin concerns a human being, its conditions are four: these three, and that he relinquish the right of its owner. If it was money or something similar, he returns it to him; if it was a hadd of false accusation or something similar, he enables him to retaliate or seeks his forgiveness; if it was backbiting, he seeks his pardon for it. It is obligatory to repent from all sins. If he repents from some of them, his repentance is valid with the people of truth regarding that sin, and the rest remains upon him. The proofs from the Book and the Sunnah, and the consensus of the Ummah, have converged on the obligation of repentance,
