The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) previously said: "The texts from the Book and the Sunnah have converged and corroborated each other regarding the obligation of repentance from all sins", and he spoke the truth (may Allah have mercy on him), for there are many verses encouraging repentance and explaining its virtue and reward, as well as hadiths from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Allah the Exalted has made it clear in His Book that He loves those who repent and He loves those who purify themselves. "Those who repent" are those who frequently repent to Allah (Mighty and Majestic); whenever they commit a sin, they repent to Allah.
Then the author mentioned from the verses the words of Allah the Exalted:[An-Nur 24:31]: This phrase is with which Allah closed the verses, indeed two verses, regarding the obligation of lowering the gaze: [An-Nur 24:30-31] up to His saying: [An-Nur 24:31]: So in this verse is proof of the obligation of repenting from failing to lower the gaze and guarding the private parts, because lowering the gaze means shortening it and not letting it wander, and guarding the private parts; all of this is among the causes of destruction, the causes of misery, and the causes of affliction. It is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: . For this reason, our enemies, the enemies of Islam, indeed the enemies of Allah and His Messenger, from among the Jews, the Christians, the polytheists, the communists, their like, their tails, and their followers, all of these strive with utmost effort to tempt the Muslims with women. They call for women to display their adornment, they call for the mixing of women and men, they call for moral laxity, they call for this with their tongues, their pens, and their actions, and I seek refuge in Allah, because they know that the great trial by which a person forgets his Lord and his religion is in women. Women are those who bewitch those of sound minds, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih al-Bukhari 304. Do you want anything clearer than this? : for the man of sound judgment. So what about the weak man who has no judgment, no resolve, no religion, and no manliness? He will be even more affected, and I seek refuge in Allah. But even the man of sound judgment has his mind taken by women. We ask Allah for safety. And this is the reality. Therefore, Allah the Exalted said after the command for men and women to lower their gaze: [An-Nur 24:31]. And His saying (Mighty and Majestic): [An-Nur 24:31]: indicates that it is incumbent upon us, indeed obligatory upon us, to advise one another to repent and to check on one another whether a person has repented from his sin or remains persistent in it, because the address was directed to everyone: [An-Nur 24:31]. And in His saying (the Exalted): : is proof that repentance is among the causes of success. And success, as the scholars of tafsir and language said: success is: "a comprehensive word by which the desired is attained and the feared is removed". So it is a comprehensive word for the good of this world and the Hereafter, and every person seeks the good of this world and the Hereafter. You will not find a person, even a disbeliever, who does not want good, but some people are granted success and some are not.
The disbeliever wants good, but he wants the good of this world, because he is a beastly man. He is the worst of beasts in the sight of Allah:[Al-Anfal 8:55]: worse than every beast that crawls on the earth, the disbeliever. And yet he wants good; he wants comfort, he wants to enjoy this world. But this world is his Paradise, and the Hereafter, and I seek refuge in Allah, is his punishment and his Fire. The important thing is that every person wants success, but according to his ambition. The believer wants success in this world and the Hereafter, and the disbeliever does not believe in the Hereafter, so he wants success in this world.
Among the causes of success is repentance to Allah (Mighty and Majestic):[An-Nur 24:31]: meaning so that you may attain success, which is by attaining the desired and removing the feared. And Allah grants success.
Then the author mentioned from the verses the words of Allah the Exalted:
And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed.
(30) Tell the believing men to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts. That is purer for them. Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what they do. (31) And tell the believing women to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts
قُلْ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَغُضُّوا مِنْ أَبْصَارِهِمْ وَيَحْفَظُوا فُرُوجَهُمْ ذَلِكَ أَزْكَى لَهُمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ خَبِيرٌ بِمَا يَصْنَعُونَ * وَقُلْ لِلْمُؤْمِنَاتِ يَغْضُضْنَ مِنْ أَبْصَارِهِنَّ وَيَحْفَظْنَ فُرُوجَهُنَّor children who are not yet aware of the private aspects of women. And let them not stamp their feet to make known what they conceal of their adornment. And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed.
I have not left after me any trial more harmful to men than women. And the trial of the Children of Israel was in women.
I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you. A cautious sensible man could be led astray by some of you.
ما رأيتُ من ناقصاتِ عقل ودين أذهبَ للبِّ الرجل الحازم من إحداكنmore likely to deprive a resolute man of his reason
And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed.
توبوا إلى الله جميعا أيها المؤمنون لعلكم تفلحونturn to Allah in repentance, all of you
توبوا إلى الله جميعاturn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers
Perhaps you will succeed
The disbeliever wants good, but he wants the good of this world, because he is a beastly man. He is the worst of beasts in the sight of Allah:
Indeed, the worst of living creatures in the sight of Allah are those who have disbelieved
Among the causes of success is repentance to Allah (Mighty and Majestic):
