The Ruling on Shaving the Beard
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The second matter that is difficult for many people, and by which many people have been afflicted, is shaving the beards. Shaving the beard is forbidden because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said . Many people are overcome by their desires and end up shaving their beards. I do not know what benefit they gain from shaving the beard; what benefit do they gain? They gain nothing but sins that accumulate upon them until their faith weakens, may Allah protect us from that. This is because it is the doctrine of the people of the Sunnah and the community that sins diminish faith. So he acquires sins that diminish his faith, while he does not gain any increase in energy or health, nor are diseases averted from him by it. But he is afflicted with this thing and it becomes difficult for him. So a person must strive to control his self in performing the commands and leaving the prohibitions, so that he may be among those who strive in the cause of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). And Allah the Exalted said regarding their reward: [Al-'Ankabut 29:69] And success is from Allah.
