Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And in this is evidence of the virtue of standing in night prayer and prolonging it. Allah has praised those who stand in prayer at night and prolong it, and He said, Mighty and Majestic:
They arise from [their] beds
[As-Sajdah 32:16]
meaning they turn away from their beds and their mattresses.
they supplicate their Lord in fear and aspiration
[As-Sajdah 32:16]
out of fear; when they look at their sins, they fear, and out of hope; when they look at the bounty of Allah, they hope for His bounty.
and from what We have provided them, they spend. (17) And no soul knows what has been hidden for them of comfort for eyes as reward for what they used to do.
[As-Sajdah 32:16-17]
I ask Allah to make me and you among them. O Allah, by Your bounty.
Their sides leave the beds
They are not staying up watching television, or playing cards, or talking about people, or the like of that, but they call upon Allah, worshipping Him, Mighty and Majestic.
in fear and aspiration, and from what We have provided them, they spend. (17) And no soul knows what has been hidden for them of comfort for eyes as reward for what they used to do.
[As-Sajdah 32:16-17]
Where is that which is hidden for them? It has come in the Qudsi hadith what clarifies this. Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said:
I have prepared for My righteous servants
Listen to the hadith.
I have prepared for My righteous slaves (such excellent things) as no eye has ever seen, nor an ear has ever heard nor a human heart can ever think of.
Sahih al-Bukhari 7498
O Allah, make us and you among the inhabitants of these gardens, for He is Generous and Bountiful.
