Continuation of the explanation of the statement of Imam al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) regarding what he quoted: "."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The author (may Allah have mercy on him) said, in what he quoted from Abu Dharr al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), in what he narrated from his Lord (Exalted and Majestic is He). He said within this hadith
O My servants, you will not reach My benefit to benefit Me, nor will you reach My harm to harm Me.
meaning that He (Blessed and Exalted is He) is rich, rich beyond the need of the servants; He does not benefit from their obedience, nor is He harmed by their disobedience. For He (Mighty and Majestic) said in His Book
(56) And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me. (57) I do not want from them any provision, nor do I want them to feed Me. (58) Indeed, it is Allah who is the [continual] Provider, the firm possessor of strength.
[Adh-Dhariyat 51:56-58]
So Allah (Mighty and Majestic) does not benefit from anyone, nor is He harmed by anyone, because He is rich beyond the need of creation (Exalted and Majestic is He). He only created creation for a wisdom He intended (Blessed and Exalted is He), and He created them to worship Him. Then He promised the obedient with reward and threatened the disobedient with punishment, as a wisdom from Him, because He created Paradise and the Fire. And He said
For each of you, I have its fullness.
So the Fire must be filled, and Paradise must be filled, as He (Mighty and Majestic) said
and for that He created them. But the word of your Lord is to be fulfilled that, "I will surely fill Hell with jinn and men all together."
[Hud 11:119]
Therefore, Allah the Exalted: the obedience of the obedient will not benefit Him, nor will the disobedience of the disobedient harm Him, and no one will reach His harm, no matter who they are. For this reason, He said later, after this phrase:
were the first of you and the last of you, the human of you and the jinn of you to be as pious as the most pious heart of any one man of you, that would not increase My dominion in anything
Sahih Muslim 2577a
For the dominion is His dominion, not for the obedient nor for the disobedient. Likewise, He (Exalted and Majestic is He) says:
O My servants, were the first of you and the last of you, the human of you and the jinn of you to be as wicked as the most wicked heart of any one man of you, that would not decrease My dominion in anything.
Sahih Muslim 2577a
Allah the Exalted said:
If you disbelieve - indeed, Allah is Free from need of you. And He does not approve for His servants disbelief. And if you are grateful, He approves it for you
[Az-Zumar 39:7]
So Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) does not decrease in His dominion by the disobedience of the disobedient, nor does He increase by the obedience of the obedient. It is Allah's dominion in all circumstances.
In these three phrases, there is evidence of the perfection of Allah's (Glorified and Exalted is He) richness and the perfection of His sovereignty, and that He is not harmed by anyone nor does He benefit from anyone, because He is rich beyond the need of everyone. And success is from Allah.
The reader: The author (may Allah have mercy on him) quoted, in the context of the hadith of Abu Dharr,
O My servants

The Shaykh : That Allah said
The reader: "That Allah said
O My servants, were the first of you and the last of you, the human of you and the jinn of you to rise up in one place and make a request of Me, and were I to give everyone what he requested, that would not decrease what I have, any more that a needle decreases the sea if put into it. O My servants, it is but your deeds that I record for you and then recompense you for. So let him who finds good, praise Allah, and let him who finds other than that blame no one but himself.
Sahih Muslim 2577a
