Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: He (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "Chapter on urging the ruler, the judge, and others among those in authority to appoint a righteous minister, and warning them against bad companions and accepting from them:
Allah the Exalted said:
Close friends, that Day, will be enemies to each other, except for the righteous
[Az-Zukhruf 43:67]
.
And it was narrated from Abu Sa'id and Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with them both): that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
No prophet is sent by God and no caliph succeeds another without having two close associates, one who commands and urges him to do what is reputable and one who commands and urges him to do what is evil. The one who is protected is he whom God protects.
Mishkat al-Masabih 3691
Al-Bukhari narrated it.
And it was narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When God has a good purpose for a ruler He appoints for him a sincere minister who reminds him if he forgets and helps him if he remembers; but when God has a different purpose from that for him He appoints for him an evil minister who does not remind him if he forgets and does not help him if he remembers.
Mishkat al-Masabih 3707
Abu Dawud narrated it with a good chain according to the conditions of Muslim "

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
Al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) said in the book *Riyad al-Salihin*: "Chapter on urging the judge and the ruler to appoint a righteous minister and warning against bad companions": Then the author mentioned the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Close friends, that Day, will be enemies to each other, except for the righteous
[Az-Zukhruf 43:67]
: "Al-Akhla'" is the plural of "Khalil," and "Khalil" is the one who loves you and you love him with a great love that penetrates the entire body. And regarding this, the poet says:
"You have penetrated the path of my spirit *** And thus the khalil was named khalil" .
So if the affection is sincere and the affection is intense, then the highest type of love is the khalilah (intimate friendship). For this reason, Allah took Ibrahim as a khalil and took Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) as a khalil. And we do not know that He took a khalil from His creation except these two: Ibrahim and Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon them both). For this reason, we say: Whoever says that Ibrahim is the khalil of Allah, and Musa is the one who spoke to Allah, and Muhammad is the beloved of Allah, has diminished Muhammad of his right. Why? Because if he makes him the beloved of Allah, he lowers his rank. Rather, he (peace and blessings be upon him) is higher than the beloved. Allah the Exalted loves the believers, and He loves those who are just, and He loves the righteous. So His love is broader. But the khalilah is not attained by everyone. So these poor ignorant people say: Muhammad is the beloved of Allah and Ibrahim is the khalil of Allah. Glory be to Allah! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Indeed, Allah has taken me as a khalil just as He took Ibrahim as a khalil
Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 26:27
, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
If I were to take a Khalil, I would have taken Abu Bakr
Sahih al-Bukhari 3656
And with this:
He was asked: Which man is most beloved to you? He said: Abu Bakr
, so he distinguished between the khalilah and the love. The khalilah: the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not take anyone as a khalil. And the love: the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) loves whom he loves among the believers. And Abu Bakr, about whom he said:
If I were to take a Khalil, I would have taken Abu Bakr
Sahih al-Bukhari 3656
: he is the one who said:
The most beloved men to me
, he is the one about whom the Messenger said:
He is the most beloved man to me
, so the close friends in this world and the friends in this world are in their friendship, but in the Hereafter they are enemies:
Close friends, that Day, will be enemies to each other, except for the righteous
[Az-Zukhruf 43:67]
, for the love of the righteous is in Allah. And if two men love each other in Allah, they gather for it and separate for it, they are among the seven whom Allah will shade in His shade on a Day when there is no shade except His shade. May Allah make me and you among them.
And this is indicated by—meaning that the close friends are enemies except for the righteous—the saying of Allah the Exalted:
[Allah] will say, "Enter among nations which had passed on before you of jinn and mankind into the Fire." Every time a nation enters, it will curse its sister
[Al-A'raf 7:38]
, and He the Exalted said:
[And they should consider that] when those who have been followed disassociate themselves from those who followed [them], and they [all] see the punishment, and cut off from them are the ties [of relationship],
[Al-Baqarah 2:166]
, Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "Their love was severed", so the love between them in this world, in the Hereafter it fades and is severed.
Then it must be known that Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, tests the servant. Sometimes He facilitates for him sincere close friends who call him to good, command him to do what is right, forbid him from what is wrong, and help him with what he is unable to do. And sometimes he is tested with people the opposite of that. For this reason, it came in the hadith:
A man follows the religion of his close friend, so let one of you look at whom he befriends.
Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 33:79
, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The example of a good companion is like a carrier of musk: either he sells it to you,
: he sells you musk,
or he gives it to you for free,
meaning: he gives it to you for free,
or you will get a good smell from him
Sahih al-Bukhari 5534
, as for the companion of evil, and I seek refuge in Allah, he is like the bellower of the bellows:
will either burn your clothes
Sahih al-Bukhari 5534
: with the sparks of fire that fly at you,
or you will get a bad smell from him
Sahih al-Bukhari 5534
.
