Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may prayers and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon his family and all his Companions:
He said (may Allah have mercy on him): "The chapter on listening to one's companion's speech that is not forbidden, and on making the scholar and the preacher present in the gathering listen:
From Jarir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me during the Farewell Pilgrimage:Sahih al-Bukhari 7080 Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim " .
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
The author al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) said in *Riyad al-Salihin*: "The chapter on a person listening to his companion when he is not speaking something forbidden, and on making the scholar and the teacher make the people listen, meaning that they should listen to his speech " : It has been mentioned to us previously that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) used to say the salam three times when he greeted people. The meaning is that if the person being greeted does not hear him, he says the salam the first time, and if there is no response, he says it the second time, and if there is no response, he says it the third time and then turns away. However, if the person being greeted responds to the salam the first time, he does not repeat the salam a second time. As for this chapter, it indicates that a person should listen attentively to his companion's speech if he is not speaking something forbidden.
Attentive listening is achieved through speech and action. As for speech: one should not speak when his companion is speaking, as this causes confusion. It should be that each person speaks with his companion, and what is recommended in gatherings is that the speech be a single topic so that all people benefit from what some of them say.
As for listening through action, if a person is telling you something, you should turn your face toward him and not look to the right or left, because if you look to the right and left while he is telling you something, it attributes arrogance to you. And Allah the Exalted said:[Luqman 31:18]: You should listen to him and face him, so that he knows that you have felt his presence and that you have taken an interest in his speech, unless he is speaking something forbidden, such as backbiting or idle talk, or similar forbidden things. In that case, you do not listen to him, but rather you forbid him from that thing. If he continues to speak the forbidden speech and does not listen to your words or your advice, it is obligatory for you to stand up from your place and leave him, because Allah says: [An-Nisa 4:140].
Then the author mentioned the hadith of Jarir ibn Abdullah al-Bajali (may Allah be pleased with him): meaning, make them silent so that they listen to what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) says. Then he said, meaning the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Sahih Muslim 65
In this is evidence that fighting among the believers is disbelief, and this hadith is supported by his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):Sahih Muslim 64a : But it is a disbelief that does not take one out of the religion. The evidence for this is that it does not take one out of the religion, as Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Hujurat 49:9] until He said: [Al-Hujurat 49:10] , and success is from Allah.

Let the people keep quiet and listen." Then he said (addressing the people), "Beware! Do not renegade as disbelievers after me by striking (cutting) the necks of one another."

And do not turn your cheek [in contempt] toward people and do not walk through the earth exultantly
ولا تصعّر خدّك للناس ولا تمش في الأرض مَرَحًاAnd it has already come down to you in the Book that when you hear the verses of Allah [recited], they are denied [by them] and ridiculed; so do not sit with them until they enter into another conversation. Indeed, you would then be like them. Indeed Allah will gather the hypocrites and disbelievers in Hell all together -
