What is the meaning of the statement of the Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah: "Those who adopt other than the law of Allah are like the marksmen of the muskets"?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Once, a man was asking, saying: The Shaykh al-Islam used an expression in his book, saying: "Those who adopt, those who do not judge by the law of Allah are like those who adopt the law like the marksmen of the muskets"!

The Shaykh : How?

The questioner : He says: "Those who adopt, those who adopt other than the law of Allah are like the adoption of the marksmen of the muskets", so he is asking what is the meaning of the word: marksmen of the muskets?

The Shaykh : What is this speech that you are transmitting from Ibn Taymiyyah?

The questioner : It is the same speech that the brother is saying; he says: that he read an expression where he says: that those who adopt other than the law of Allah are like the adoption of the marksmen of the muskets, so he is asking what is intended?

The Shaykh : Like the adoption of what?

The questioner : The marksmen of the muskets!
The student: Marksmen or ashes?

The questioner : The marksmen of the muskets.

The Shaykh : What are marksmen?

The questioner : I wrote it down from his mouth like this, so I said we should ask the Shaykh about it!

The Shaykh : On this basis, we interpret what we see of the speech of Ibn al-Qayyim in his book al-Ruh and similar matters that contradict the legal reality, and sometimes contradict the linguistic reality, such as his long and very long discussion in al-Zad al-Mu'ad—this book which, if we can doubt the attribution of others, we cannot doubt the correctness of its attribution to him—nevertheless, in some of the topics he addressed and expanded upon, there are things that are very reprehensible. I mention specifically one that contradicts the correct Sunnah on one hand, and the established language in the books of language on the other: the issue of falling into prostration. He argued for the view that one falls onto his knees, and he said very strange words from the linguistic perspective, let alone the legal perspective. This is my answer.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : May Allah preserve you.

The questioner : And is it said that this is from the same manner of speech of the Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah regarding the prayer of the able person or fasting on Saturday?

The Shaykh : No, this is a matter of extreme precision; it is possible that at the end, there was no knowledge obtained.

The questioner : Yes, may Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : And you likewise
