Is knowledge taken from the elders and the juniors?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
It is known that the people of knowledge vary in their knowledge. Some people say: knowledge is not taken except from the elders, and the juniors are left aside, even though the majority of the community, meaning the students of knowledge, are among the juniors?

Answer:
Take knowledge from the one you think has knowledge, whether he is young, old, or in between. Take knowledge from its people. People used to take knowledge from its people. Ibn Abbas was among the youngest of the Companions. Deputations would come to him and take knowledge from him, even though the elders of the Companions were present, such as Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf, al-Zubayr ibn al-Awwam, al-Harith ibn Ubayd Allah, and a group of others. So the point is: if a young man is known for knowledge and insight, knowledge is taken from him... religious knowledge; what Allah said, what His Messenger said.
Q: In the previous issue, they cite the hadith that came in stating that seeking knowledge from the juniors is one of the signs of the Hour?
The Shaykh: No, it has no basis. I do not know any basis for this.
