Peace be upon you, and Allah’s mercy and blessings, and after that:
We were asked by (the Center of the Shu'af Authority) to answer a question regarding breastfeeding, and its details are:
1- An older man breastfed from his wife in jest, and then he was told that it is not permissible?
2- A woman breastfed from herself in order for her husband to divorce her?
We ask Your Eminence to answer this question, and that the fatwa be in writing so that the benefit may be widespread, and may Allah reward you with good.
Answer: And upon you be peace, and Allah’s mercy and blessings, after that:
This breastfeeding does not result in prohibition or any of the rulings of breastfeeding; rather, it is frivolity that should not be done. The only breastfeeding that is legislated, which results in prohibition and upon which the rulings of breastfeeding are based, is the breastfeeding that occurs from a child while he is within the two years, before he is weaned; due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Bulugh al-Maram 8:198. May Allah guide them all.
And peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
