Is the fornicator forbidden from his wife?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
If a man commits zina while he is married, is his wife forbidden to him, and likewise the woman?

Answer:
Neither is forbidden to the other, and both must repent to Allah with sincere repentance, and follow that with sincere faith and righteous deeds. Repentance is only sincere if the repentant person abandons the sin, feels remorse for what has passed, and resolves sincerely not to return to it; out of fear of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) and exalting Him, hoping for His reward, and fearing His punishment. Allah the Exalted said:
But indeed, I am the Perpetual Forgiver of whoever repents and believes and does righteousness and then continues in guidance.
[20:82], and He the Exalted said:
O you who have believed, repent to Allah with sincere repentance.
[66:8], and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed.
[24:31].
And zina is among the greatest of what is forbidden and the major sins. Allah has threatened the polytheists, those who kill without right, and the fornicators with the doubling of the punishment on the Day of Resurrection and eternal abode therein, humbled and disgraced; because of the magnitude of their crime and the ugliness of their action, as Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) said:
And those who do not invoke with Allah another deity or kill the soul which Allah has forbidden [to be killed], except by right, and do not commit unlawful sexual intercourse. And whoever should do that will meet a penalty.
[Al-Furqan 25:68]
His punishment will be doubled for him on the Day of Resurrection, and he will abide therein in humiliation except for him who repents and believes and does a righteous deed the verse [Al-Furqan:68-70].
So it is obligatory for every Muslim man and woman: to guard against this great sin and its means with the utmost caution, and to hasten with sincere repentance from what has passed of it. And Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) accepts the repentance of the sincere repenters and forgives them. And success is from Allah.
