The Names of Allah and the Virtue of One Who Enumerates Them

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
What is meant by the word
enumerates themأحصاها
in the hadith of the Noble Messenger regarding the Beautiful Names of Allah
whoever counts them shall enter Paradiseمن أحصاها دخل الجنة
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3508Sahih (Darussalam)
?
Answer: Enumeration is achieved through memorization, and through reflecting on and understanding their meanings and acting in accordance with them. For this reason, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Indeed, Allah has ninety-nine Names, whoever counts them shall enter Paradise.إن لله تسعةً وتسعين اسمًا من أحصاها دخل الجنة
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3508Sahih (Darussalam)
And in another wording:
he who commits them to memory would get into Paradiseمن حفظها دخل الجنة
Sahih Muslim 2677a
The meaning is: enumerating them by reflecting on the meanings, and looking into the meanings while memorizing them; because of the great good and beneficial knowledge contained therein, and because that is among the causes of the rectification of the heart, the perfection of its fear of Allah, and the fulfillment of His right .
