The Shaykh : In this, there is evidence for several issues. First: It is recommended for a person, when struck by a calamity, not to supplicate for himself except with good. Second: It is recommended for the one present with the deceased, when the soul of the deceased departs and his eyes open, to close them as long as the body is warm, because if it cools and his eyes remain fixed open, they will stay fixed and not close; so he should close them as long as they are warm. The scholars said: It is also recommended to loosen his joints before they cool and stiffen. Loosening the joints means returning his forearm to his upper arm and his upper arm to his chest, then extending his hand; and returning his lower leg to his thigh and his thigh to his abdomen, then extending it several times until it becomes soft, to facilitate his washing and shrouding. [Al-Isra 17:85]

If he supplicates with these great supplications with which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) supplicated for Abu Salama, that is better. If he does not know them, he should supplicate with what is easy for him. Among its benefits is that the angels affirm the supplication of the deceased's family in this state. Therefore, the family of the deceased should supplicate with good, for the supplication that is affirmed...
