The reader: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions:
He said (may Allah have mercy on him): "Chapter on the Dislike of Cursing Fever:
It was narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him):
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) visited Umm Sa'ib (or Umm Musaiyyab) and asked her, "What ails you O Umm Sa'ib (or Umm Musaiyyab)? You are shivering." She replied: "It is a fever, may Allah not bless it!" He said to her, "Do not revile fever, for it cleanses out the sins of the sons of Adam in the same way that a furnace removes the dirt of iron."
Riyad as-Salihin 1726
Muslim narrated it"
.

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
The author said (may Allah have mercy on him) in his book *Riyad al-Salihin*: "Chapter on the Dislike of Cursing Fever":
Fever is: heat, and it is a type of illness. It has multiple types, but it occurs by the decree of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). He is the One who decrees its occurrence and removes it (Glorified and Exalted is He). And nothing of the actions of Allah is permissible for a person to curse, because cursing it is cursing its Creator (Exalted and Majestic is He). For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Do not curse Time, for it is Allah Who is Time. لا تسبوا الدهر فإن الله هو الدهر
Sahih Muslim 2246e
,
And here he mentioned the hadith of Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him):
That the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to visit Umm al-Masa'ib or Umm al-Sa'ib while she was shivering from the fever أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم دخل على أم المسيب أو أم السائب وهي تزفزف من الحمى
: meaning her body was agitated by the fever,
He said: What is the matter with you that you are shivering? She said: It is from the fever; may Allah not bless it. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade cursing it فقال ما لك تزفزفين؟ قالت: من الحمى لا بارك الله فيها ، فنهى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم عن سبها
: and a person, when afflicted, should be patient and seek reward from Allah (Mighty and Majestic). And he informed that it removes sins just as the bellows remove the dross from iron:
For when iron is melted over fire, its dross is removed and it remains pure. Likewise, fever does the same to a person.
And it has therapeutic medicines, among which is cold water. For the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) informed: "that the fever is from the heat of Hell, and we were commanded to extinguish it with cold water". For this reason, doctors have acknowledged in the present time that one of the greatest treatments for fever is coldness. They even place a person who is afflicted with fever around cold air conditioners that do not harm him, or they place a cloth wetted with water to cover him, covering the patient. Because fever, by the permission of Allah, is heat, as is well known, and this water cools it and drives it out. It is something the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) informed about, and what the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) informed about is truth. The important thing is that a person is patient and seeks reward for all illnesses and does not curse them.
